Bergara B14R Bipod Help

I have a Bergara B14R that I bought with the intent of shooting NRL/PRS type matches.

I have not yet shot a match, but in the mean time, I started shooting a semi-formal steel target match from a bench out to 200 yards.

I have just been using a Harris bipod for range practice and the 1st match I shot. The first 3 stages (out to 50 yards) are below the shooting bench and my Harris is too tall to stay seated at the bench and be able to see the targets.

I am looking to upgrade and am open to suggestions.

I don't think I want to use a sling swivel attachment this time, but I'm not sure if it is worth it to put an Arca rail on it. Bergara has a short piece of pic rail available, and I'm kind of leaning in that direction.

I also have a Magpul bipod that attaches to pic rail and I have other rifles that are set up to use it. So if I go with a pic rail set up, I would be able to use it on other rifles w/o having to switch everything over to Arca.

If Arca is THAT much better, I would consider it, but would rather not.

I have been looking at the wide body Accu Tac and Atlas bipod to try to keep it as short as possible using the 45 degree setting.

What are people using that works very well, what doesn't work well, and if you are using one of these would you buy it again?

Also, is there any others that I should consider in a similar price range or less?

Atlas in arca mount all the way. It's been good for me as I have another atlas in picatinny mount for rifles not on arca.

Is it worth the extra money to get the rail and clamp for ARCA if everything else I have is pic rail?

Is the Atlas with Arca significantly better than your Atlas on pic rail?
I shoot a local match with the same problem with the closer targets. (Topstrap's) Different solutions I have seen and used. With Harris, fold the legs up and rest them on a sandbag. With Atlas, fold the legs to 45*. If you already have several rifles with pic rails, I don't know that I would go to the expense of an ARCA rail for only one rifle. I'd put a pic rail on everything. The ARCA rail would occasionally give you an advantage in PRS matches I think where you can slide the bipod back and forth to rest it on your barricade.

I have a large wedge rear bag I use sometimes with other sandbags stacked under it to raise the rear of the rifle.

For the money, it's hard to beat the MDT bipod. Available in pic or arca attachment. Mine has been perfect for the local bench steel shoot.

Same match, shot it for the 1st time this month, but it won't be the last.

I folded my Harris and rested on bags, but I'd like a better solution (and reason to justify a cool bipod).

Thanks for your reply, I may see you there.

Accutac FC-5 G2 on a Pic rail on my Vudoo is awesome, but does sometimes require a tall rear bag to shoot at lower mounted targets. But as far as quality, rigidity, and ease of use, Accutac is really hard to surpass.

How cool a bipod do you want? ;) I have a Phoenix. Solves a lot of problems for benchrest shooting.

After I put an Atlas on my match gun I've been converting everything else over to Arca - 1 bipod for all my guns. If you wanted to stay with pic, there's an Atlas with a pic attachment or I'd check out MDT per @HammerTech . I might have gone that way if I didn't already have the Atlas.

That is definitely cool.

If you intend to shoot PRS go ARCA. If you aren't then look at an F-Class style bipod.

Have not seen that one yet personally but it looks cool.
MDT bipod would work fine PRS/NRL and is about 150 bucks cheaper over Atlas and much more over the top tier Accutacs. It all depends on your budget. As far as bases for base class rifles I am using Salmon River Solutions Arca & Picatinny combo mounts. I really like them that I can use either on the same rifle.

I ended up going with an Atlas PSR BT46 LW17 bipod. It just arrived yesterday.

I went with the picatinney rail mount so it would be of use on several rifles. If I get deep into NRL/PRS shooting and it becomes a disadvantage, I will either put it on an ARCA rail or get something else.

Thanks for all of the replies. I will update with a pic and range observations once I get a chance to take it out.

FYI RRS makes a couple of ARMS-17S mounts that work on pic and arca. If you don't mind a knob their btc-pro (BTC-Pro Bipod Clamp) is a solid option to swap out the ADM mount with in the future.
I don't shoot competition but my experience with bipods in both stability and adjustability goes to the Acu-Shot Atlas Bipod. I use them on all my large caliber rifles. I was considering replacing one on a .22 I shoot often that has a Harris now. One of the biggest advantages is the legs lock in so many positions, both forward and backwards. When bench shooting you can dial in so much better. Here is one on a Colt HBAR Elite with a Mark IV Leupold. You can see I get a better angle by locking the legs forward at an angle. It makes a very stable rest.

Thanks for the heads up...I may end up with a BT 10 in the future and I'm assuming that the attachments are interchangeable.

Yep, that's correct. All of the -nc and -lw17 options have ARMS 17S (fixed my earlier typo) mounting options.
Everyone has multiple rifles, it's what we do. Just fix the bipod with the RRS Arca/Pic clamp on your bipod. Then it fits all your guns, except the most basic sling swivel equiped models.
