Bergara B14 R Precision Trainer, really not sure how to feel yet

Ok since it is tax check return time I decided I wanted a new precision 22lr target rifle. I wanted an ANSCHÜTZ, or a CZ MTR Precision with the aluminum frame. Went to my LGS to have either one ordered for me. None of their distributers had either one. Did not like the Ruger Precision when I had that rifle. So we were talking about other precision like Tikka or Bergara. They found the Bergara B14 R Precision Trainer in stock at one of their suppliers.

I look at it, never have even seen one around my neck of the woods. Liked the LOP in the stock and everything that I read about it. So I had them order it. Really liked the MTR CZ and really not sure how I feel about the Bergara but hear nothing but positives. It is the carbon barreled model. I am hoping it will be a tack driver. Saw one video that stated it came with a 20 MOA rail, but the website does not state that it has one. So I purchased an EGW 0 MOA rail a bipod and a new 8-32x44 scope for it.

Are these rifles as accurate as the CZ MTR ? I guess I will find out soon enough.

Sorry about the bold text, did not mean it to come out that way.

I like mine and haven't had any issues. It is factory stock, steel barrel.

It shoots at about 1 moa out to 100 off a bipod, shouldering it. I haven't tried it due to weather with my new front rest and rear bag.
Really looking forward to trying her probably next weekend if everything comes in. Rifle should be in around Wednesday. Thanks for the reply.

I have had a steel-barreled action since they first came out. I planned on replacing it with a Vudoo when I got tired of it, but that has yet to happen. I would like to set up a carbon model with a Grayboe Phoenix stock and Leupold Mk5 HD scope. That would be an awesome light PRS/NRL rig.

Be on the prowl for additional magazines, they seem to be a feast or famine item. Another option is to modify Vudoo magazines to work in the B14r. Personally, I would like to try some of the new magazines Vudoo introduced at SHOT show.

I would opt for the steel barrel. Mine has the best cold bore shot I've ever experienced with a rimfire.
The carbons don't seem to be as consistent from what I've read plus the balance isn't as good.

I have 2 steel B14R's both will shoot sub moa out to 200yds. I both have trigger tech Diamond triggers and EC V2 tuners.
The only thing i didn't like about my B14R was the stock trigger... But that's easy enough to change.
When I had them look it up there were two distributers that had one in stock. I told them I wanted the steel, but they only had the Carbon models. So that is what I got, not disappointed though. From what I have read most say they can't tell the difference in accuracy on either one of them. Rifles are still hard to find, the last few that I wanted the LGS to order was not available so I bought them off of GB. GB only had the CZ MTR with the wood stock, not really the model I was looking for. After watching several videos it seem that the Bergara will out shoot the CZ by the smallest of margins.

This was not my experience. I bought one since they’re legal in ARA Factory class this year. It comes close but doesn’t outshoot my two CZ’s. I’ve only tried a few lots and plan on trying more. It’s definitely a good shooting rifle though. I haven’t shot it against my 24” VPC yet, but my VPC outshoots my VPT MTR on most days with most lots.

Geez App2 is there a rifle you don't have? I kid. I have been considering picking up a Bergara B14R barreled action as I currently have a Bergara B14 HMR 6.5 Creedmoor and as I understand it the 22 LR barreled action should drop right into it. The thing I'm not sure of is.....is the stock that comes with the factory B14R the same stock as mine which came on my 6.5 they sure look identical? Do you know?

What can I say? I’m addicted to this Rimfire stuff. No. I don’t know if the stocks are the same. I saw this recently. It took all my muster not to buy it. Bergara in 6.5.

I believe they are both the same, short action Rem 700 compatible.

Well I just received my EGW Scope rail and have it on. Waiting for the Scope and the Bipod. The scope will be in Friday. The Bipod will be two weeks but I have one that I can swipe from another rifle till then. Hopefully give it a try this weekend. Trigger adjusted and action torqued to 20 inch pounds. Could hardly break the action screws loose, they definitely were not 55 inch pounds.

I use 3 modified Voodoo mags in mine. Perfect.

I'm a brand new B-14 R owner. Just mounted my pic rail this afternoon, and will probably set my scope in the next couple of days. Still no rounds downrange, but already planning to hang a TriggerTech on it. One question I have is does anyone know what the actual factory specs are for the action screws? Is 55 inch pounds their actual spec? Thx in advance!

Yes, they are mentioning (re)torquing the action to 55 inch/lbs as one of the first steps they perform during accuracy testing, so apparently they feel strongly about it being important.
TTD is awesome - I also have it on my B14 R, it’s set to 5-6 CRISP ounces👍😎

Well I have mine all completed and was heading to the range after that big wind storm we had. When I got down to the range I had a huge 5 prong tree that fell and crushed my shooting table. It is all cut up and my table has been replaced but it was rainy and cold this weekend. So still waiting to get her to the range.

The Timber's bottom route is like a Rem 700 BDL. The HMR stocks are routed like an M5 Badger AICS. I bought a new Ridge SP and put it in a Timber stock. It is an excellent shooter and works great with the 18" barrel and a suppressor.

Ok Guy's/Gal's

I finally got to the range in not perfect conditions. Little cold today for southern Kentucky and really just wanted to get the scope sighted in. Tired of waiting on the weather. Thanks to me eye bore sighting it only took 5 shots at 25 yards to get the scope for the most part on target. My eyes were blurry today ( I am a diabetic so sometimes that happens and was looking at very small holes at work today so they were strained which is why they were blurry I believe) But after getting her sighted in and just shooting 50 rounds I was pleased on the first outing. Mostly shot CCI SV but the last 10 rounds were RWS Rifle Target. That two 5 shot groups with that RWS ammo were the best for the day. I do believe the groups will tighten up from here with better conditions and clearer eyes. So very very pleased with my first ever Bergara.

Anyway like I said 25 yards which is all the further my small range is right now, need to have some bulldozer work to make a hundred yard range. Need a good back stop.
