Bergara 10/22 not the Ruger

Ok Guy's/Gal's this is not a Ruger 10/22

I wish there was just a 10/22 thread or forum and not a Ruger 10/22 forum. But it does say 10/22 action in this forum. since the Paten has ran out there is other manufactures for this style action now, so sorry to have to post this in this section but it is a copy and here is where everyone reads on this action.

I have not bought a Ruger 10/22 for a long time. I convinced myself that I was done with them. They just were not accurate in my opinion. Yes my opinion ( I know you all will have a different experience and opinion. So not going there) for me they were not a precision enough rifle. I have build and bought several over the years. Only one that satisfied me was the TALO addition with the I believe it to be called the Fajon stock. Stupidly sold that one and never have had the chance to buy another one.

Anyway after buying a Bergara B14R bolt action I was looking at their web page and noticed the BXR (10/22 clone. After check some videos and looking at the specs. I was impressed and decided I needed a Semiauto target rifle. I precision style again.

Things I liked when checking was the barrel was threaded into the receiver, built in rail and that Bergara barrel that is free floated. I already have a new scope and ordered an Atlas style Bipod for it along with a Boyds At-One thumbhole stock. Can't wait to get her finished and to the range. Should be here on Thursday.

Carbon or steel barrel? Keep us posted I have had it and done as well with my 1022 and am interested in your report.
congrats on the new rifle and welcome here in 10/22 (y)

we may not have a "clone 10/22" section yet, but if we can get enough members that want one, we may be able to convince the mods to get us one...or at least a sub forum somewhere in Anything 10/22..then maybe we can get some guys with aftermarket clones like the T/C's, Pike Arms, and other models, one easy to find place to post about their rifles too

as you may be aware of already, there is a Bergara section, so be sure and post stuff about your new rifle there as well

...and please, post up some pics of the rifle here as well
We DO have a Bergara section where this would be better placed. Unless you just want to vent.

Nice looking rifle. I didn't know they existed!!! Got me looking at one now.
I do have one "lined up" at my LGS (they would order one for me) to accompany my Ruger American Rimfire 22lr bolt action. Same mags are always a plus.

But, I'll wait for the next Gun Show in 2 weeks, just to see if I can find one over there, or maybe some heavily accessorized 10/22 that someone is selling to jump on the next project.

If not, I'm getting that Bergara bxr with steel barrel.

Please keep us posted about your experience with it.

No don't want to vent at all. But as most the 10/22's they can take all the aftermarket stuff that the 10/22 takes. So if you really think about it, any problems, any alterations, any thing period this would be the best place to go. Because all though not a Ruger it is a 10/22. Kind of like an Uberti 1873 is not a Winchester but it is a 1873 so that is the best place to find anything out about them.

Yes I know that there is a Bergara forum, and I have posted my B14R there and this one also. But really for 10/22 info this is the forum to be on. Just saying that there should be a 10/22 forum and not just under Ruger. But that may burn some of the Ruger fan fair. But I really don't think this forum has the snobs' that some of the forums have.

Yes I did not know it either, and the way they made thiers really interested me along with the chrome Molly Barrels and the Bergara barrel name.

Thanks, I will. My LGS could not get me one they were all allocated.

Another thing that I like on the Bergara is that it is direct feed which I think is great. .

I have a BXR with carbon barrel. My goal was to have a suppressed semi-auto for squirrels. I had a 10/22 some years ago; a heavy barreled model. Nice enough gun and I killed some squirrels with it, but never loved it. Sold it to a friend who loved 10/22s. For me the BXR is considerably better than the 10/22. Out of the box, the BXR barrel, trigger, and stock are all better than the 10/22. Had one problem with it; inconsistent loading. Sent it back in and it was repaired and shipped back quickly. Never a problem since. Cycles everything I put thru it.
Finally got my suppressor and found the right ammo, CCi SubSonic. Just this week I got to try out the suppressor and the CCI SubSonic. Very quiet and shooting <.5" every time. Great rifle now. Can't wait to try it out on squirrels with the suppressor. Shot it last year without the suppressor and killed a bunch of squirrels with SK Standard Plus. The other thing...the carbon model is very light; a real plus if you carry it in the woods for a few hours. The shorter stature of the rifle makes it a handy woods rifle. Overall I think it is excellent.

Just picked the rifle up on Wednesday and put it in a Boyds At-One stock. Scoped it and have a Bipod on her. Still waiting on a different bipod that I have on order. Weather turned cold and rainy so probably no shooting her this weekend but can't wait. Post a picture of yours tbates66
My BXR would not cycle Eley Club or Norma Tac22 until I replaced the recoil spring with a -10% Kidd spring. (I also kept the ammo in a small cooler with a handwarmer in it as well.) CCI SV has always cycled well in it.
Thanks for the replay. I bought CCI SV to start out with since it is locally available.

I purchased a used Bergara BXR Carbon about a year ago, have had some feeding issues as well, need to call Bergara and see if they're will to check it out. When its working well it's a very accurate rifle and light as well.

Thanks for the pictures guys and all the comments so far. I did get mine out today. Only fired 10 rounds through her. One thing I do not care for is the 30 MOA scope rail. My personal range with all my plates and paper punching holder is 25 yards. Need to have Bull Dozer work done one of these days to make a 100 yard range. At my 25 yard range with a 30mm scope tube I can not get my scope on target. I ordered Burris XTrR Signature scope rings for it today. That way I can take the 30 MOA out of the scope. So hopefully I will get the rings this coming week and next week get it sighted in.
One thing I can say is that while trying to sight it in my last three shots with CCI SV were in the same hole after. The last three shots were the only ones out of the 10 rounds that were aimed in the same spot. So encouraging for sure. Can’t wait to get the rings and new bipod this coming week. Then when all set I will take some pictures.
My BXR is a lot better than the 2 stock barreled 10/22s, but slightly behind the 3 aftermarket barreled 10/22s, I have

Just put a different rail on the gun. Should be cheaper than new rings. Interesting that they put that 30moa rail on the BMR and BXR but leave the B-14r with no rail.

Well the B14R is on the Remington SA receiver design so all rails that will fit the Remington sa 700 will fit the Bergara.
I am guessing maybe the other two models take a proprietary rail/bolt spacing that would be much more difficult to source as the reason.
Again this is just a guess on my part.

I am actually glad that the B14R did not come with the rail. I bought a rail that had 0 MOA which is what I needed. My BXR I had to buy adjustable scope rings to adjust the 30 MOA out of the rail, that coast me another $100 bill

Makes sense I wasn't considering the fact that the bxr and BMR would have proprietary rails.
