Hi from the UK,

Thought you guys might like a look at my Mk IV modified for Benchrest :D
The scope is a B & L 36x mounted on a weaver rail attached to the receiver.

Quite NICE indeed :t
NICE Setup Romar!

Got a MkIII with the same mount setup with a Weaver 36X:t

Gets the job done!:D
Very, very nice! That is a super looking rifle. How does it shoot? What ammo does it like.

Now, where did that terrific looking stock come from? Do tell the details. Cost and supplier if you would. Contact information for the maker would also be appreciated.

Regards

jeff
Also interested in who made that stock and how much it costs. Also, how much does the rifle with scope weigh now?

Dang, you've got it bad.. I'd have to be really stressed to not enjoy food... :)
Sorry about the delay guys, the producer of this wonderful woodwork has been away on a business trip :(

Anyhow, to answer your queries:

The stock is built using the original woodwork which is stripped back then built up using a fibre glass based resin. The resultant forms are then rubbed down and finished using automotive '2pack' paint which when cured is as hard as nails.

The guy that does the work makes Target Archery Bows for a living, his company is called 'Bow Too Archery' in county Durham, England. His name is Dave Folwell, he's a keen shooter of guns as well as bows and has done a few stocks for various members of our club. Basically we tell him what we'd like and he comes up with the goods :D .

Cost? Well you're looking at about the £85 mark plus carriage. He only needs the woodwork from the gun so there's no hassle with firearms law :D .

Contact with Dave would be best done through myself, his talents don't extend to anything in the PC line, I could pass on any queries or even give anyone interested a contact number for him but I'd prefer this to be by e mail, i don't want to publish his number on an open forum ;)

Hope this answers your questions and Jeff can resume normal sleeping habits and enjoy his food :D

Snacks and naps have kept me going...

Romar

Thanks for the answers, it's truely beautiful work..

I thought that the stock was an after-market replacement instead of modifiying the original. Unfortunately, I do not have the will to alter my existing MK V stock. But, you have given me some ideas to ponder. I shoot my MK V in benchrest matches.

Actually, my plate is full. Just got back this afternoon a 1215 that was rebarreled in 218 Mashburn Bee. The trigger work that was done is absolutely fantastic, light, crisp and no creep. Gonna test fire it tomorrow clamped in a workmate at the range (no stock). I'm also planning a second 1215 project and am trying to decide on 256 Win or 357 Mag.

I've also got a Kimber 82 and H&R M12 waiting for some attention.

Sure am glad I'm retired, 'cause a job would interfer with my naps and play time.

Romar,

The MK IV looks great!! Ican hardly wait for mine to arrive from a local dealer here in Aus.

What's the Weaver rail made of - steel? aluminium? Is it a readily available part?

Thanks,

Mick
A really nice rifle Romar. I have one that I know absolutely nothing about. It has a 15X Lyman Targetmaster scope mounted on it. I've had the rifle for nearly a year and due to some sad circumstances never had a chance to shoot it until last Friday. It shoots much better then I could have wanted. I just can't hold it still. I was shooting off blocks and can see I need a rest of some sort. Do you or anyone reading this have any suggestions as to brand? I'm on a budget so consider that please. I see you use a bi-pod. How does that work for you? What brand and height is it?
Romar,

What sort of scope mount do you have on the rifle??

Keeley,

it's a weaver rail, I had the top of the receiver drilled and tapped.

Just noticed your question about the bipod! I actually shoot off a Caldwell front rest, the bipod in the pics is just there to support the rifle whilst I took the photos. It's a common or garden type as used by most prone target shooters for standing the rifle on at rest.
