You know after buying my Bergara B14R I was looking around at their site and found the BXR.

I have tried the Ruger 10/22 several times over the years. Trying to get a very accurate target rifle from one. Had a TALO with a Fajon (I think was the name) stock on it. It was very accurate but I stupidly sold it for something else. Since then I have tried to build one and with no luck, I was never satisfied. I even bought a steel receiver with a Green Mountain barrel threaded in to the receiver. The barrel and the company that installed it was terrible. No rifling a quarter inch from the end of the muzzle. Would not group and sent it back for repair. All internals were Kidd parts. The rifle came back and still would not group worth crud. Sold it and the guy who bought it parted it out.

I swore I was done with Ruger 10/22 actions heck I had $1600 in my last attempt on one. Now after looking at the Bergara website and watching most of the videos on it, I purchased one off of GunBroker and its on it's way. My Small town LGS could not find one at any of his distributors. So GunBroker was my choice of evil

. Anyway love the fact that the barrel is threaded into the receiver. I bought the steel barrel version and I have a new 8-32x44 scope for it already waiting. Like the built in rail. Have a Boyds AT-One thumb hole stock coming for it also. Bought another Atlas style Bipod for it. Should make an excellent target rifle, I'm hoping.

I wish there was a 10/22 forum that was not Ruger 10/22. Since the 10/22 paten has ran out there are other manufacturers that produce clones.

Anyway it should be here on Thursday of this week can't wait to get her put together and to the range.

My BXR became a whole 'nother rifle with the addition of a Kidd trigger assembly. The OEM Bergara trigger produced misfires. The mags seat and release much more smoothly with the Kidd installed as well.

I think they're basically a good rifle. They just need a littlle tweaking is all.

I have a BXR Carbon barrel with a Bushnell Match-Pro. I like it. Maybe not a "target" rifle like many here describe but it shoots plenty well for me.

Can't wait to give mine a try. Last thing in will probably be the Boyd's At-One stock, say's 7 to 10 day's build time and then shipping time I figure like three weeks.

I have the BXR all put together. Been accurizing it. First thing is I am not a fan of the 30 MOA built in rail. I do not shoot that far right now, my personnel range is only 25 yards so I could not get the scope to adjust down that far with the 30 MOA rail. It would run out of adjustment. But a set of Burris XTR Signature Rings took care of the 30 MOA rail and now the scope sits at 0 MOA. Only using CCI SV and Aquila Super Extra in it so far and it seems to really like the Aquila but shoots the CCI SV well also just not quit as good grouping as the Aquila but almost.

Really liking this rifle, especially in the Boyds At-One thumbhole stock. I put a solid piece of 1" rubber pad under the barrel in front of the receiver to be able to free float the barrel in the stock. Have it tighten down to 25 inch pounds and really working well so far. Have not had a chance to get pictures of her as of yet but they are coming with target pictures also. So far the best 10/22 that I've ever had. Ruger magazines are getting stuck in the well though and have to figure that out but the Bergara magazines drop right out so going to purchase another Bergara magazine. Still in progression on her.

Ok update on my BXR.
I ended up bedding the barrel at the rear next to the receiver. I used a ACRAGLAS worked really well. I then had ordered a Wolff spring kit, but I did not realize at the time I could not use the Wolff extra power hammer spring due to Bergara designed theirs with a different style hammer spring. I did use the trigger return spring and the sear spring. They brought my trigger pull down to a very crisp 1.8 pound average. I also drilled and tapped the trigger guard for a trigger over travel screw. adjusted the screw while trigger group was out of the receiver. Worked really well and no over travel if any. Put the rifle back together and very pleased with everything. So windy out today but shot very well and that trigger is much much better. Can't wait to have a calm day and test the grouping out with my cheap ammo. I have CCI SV and some Aguila super extra. Actually the Aguila shoots better than the CCI SV.

Was there an existing hole you enlarged for the overtravel screw?

Got a part number for the springs you used?

You have to give me a little chance on the pictures. Weather here in Kentucky has been extream as it has been in the rest of the country. Very stormy and very windy. I have not taken the pictures as of yet because I want to get the rifle completely done first. Now that it is I will get them out as soon as I can. Have to do my running for the wife right now and hoping to get some pictures later today before taking the Granddaughter to the movies. Pictures are coming, but I agree, when posting pictures are a must.

No there was not an existing hole. I had some left over 3/8" long Allen screws from adding a sear pretravel screw to my Bergara B14R so I used them and drilled and tapped the rear of the trigger guard. You will be able to see it in the following pictures coming.

hello all,
1st post, first Bergara.
Ive been a large bore shooter my whole life but with the cost / availability of ammo these days I decided to get into rimfire.
My new BXR (just got it last week) has no hole drilled in the receiver for a cleaning rod. It's one of the reasons I ordered it. I called Bergara (BPI outdoors / some guy in the office who started out telling me there was never a hole there) but after checking with engineering, said they discontinued that feature. All the current Bergara promotional literature, owners manual etc talks about using this hole for cleaning and never clean from the muzzle end etc.
Jstanfield103 Just curious if yours has one? Just wondering if in fact they did make that change or did they just forget to drill mine?

Yes weldon mine has a total 5 hole in the back of the receiver once the action is taken out of the stock.Top hole is the cleaning hole middle bottom hole is threaded and has thre smaller holes around the threaded hole. Have no idea what that threaded hole is even for. Maybe a rear tang ?

I would call them back and ask someone else the same question.

Mine have the holes, but I pull a patchworm through the ejection port, I don’t disassemble unless absolutely necessary

I do the exact same thing and then take a ear swab to the face of the bolt and sides of the receiver. All assembled.
