With my new super grade inbound, I reached into the gun safe to shoot a few other 10/22's

After rescoping my Charger with Kidd barrel and re zeroing I moved onto my problem child Fedderson barreled 10/22

I hoped the accuracy issues that plagued it had disappeared, but no dice.

Will all the luck I've had with my charger kidd build; shooting pretty much everything awesome, I figured its time for a new barrel and Kidd was gonna be it.

This is going to be set up for the bench so weight is not an issue.

I was bouncing back and forth between the 18 or 20 inch unfluted HB.

Wanted to get some opinions on which barrel to go with?

This is a factory Ruger receiver and bolt with a kidd single stage trigger group.

It sits in a magpul stock - subject to change

I asked on the Kidd website a while back which of their barrels would produce the best accuracy. I wasn't sure I would get a definitive answer, but they responded that the barrel with the most potential for accuracy was their 20" Stainless Heavy Barrel...not fluted and not threaded.

I happen to have that barrel on a build I bought a while back...my friends refer to that rifle as "magic" for a good reason.
Thats what I like to hear :bthumb:

If you are set on going KIDD then either the 20" or the 18" will probably be fine. I like the 18" length for 10/22's but have recently started going all 16.5" threaded for suppressed shooting.
Another option would be to give Feddersen a call and see if they can go over the current barrel and see if anything can be found to repair or replace the barrel. I have had great experience with Feddersen and have no doubt that Fred would attempt to make it right.
I was going to do that, the problem is when I bought it, it was unthreaded.

It didn't shoot too well but I figured it would settle down with time. I was caught up with other projects and put it aside.

when I got back to it about a year ago I had it threaded for suppressor use.

I continued to try working on accuracy but never had it happen. ( and I tried a lot of higher end ammo)

So the long way around it is I'm not sure if Fedderson would honor it just because I did do work on it.

If you took it upon yourself to thread a barrel & suffer accuracy, it's not likely the manufacturer's issue.

Fedderson makes a very good barrel and if someone has accuracy issues with one they should contact Fedderson. If someone purchases a Kid barrel and has accuracy issues, they should contact Kid. They will want to know and will most likely make it right!

A reputable company welcomes folks reporting issues to them so that they can understand the problems and take measures to eliminate them in the future. Both Fedderson & Kid are GREAT small businesses that want satisified customers.

Just my 22 cents!
yes, I agree. Unfortunately the issue was before the threading. I just thought it would settle down. I should of been on it more and followed through. It was put aside for other projects, which is on me.

It never did get better. So I probably received a barrel that had issue. Me sending it out for threading is on me, hence the reason I would not contact Fedderson

Not to say anything bad about Fedderson but occasionally, I don't care what you buy, nothing is ever 100%.

With that said, I would buy a Fedderson again. My choice for Kidd is just because I own and have shot quite a few, with excellent results
