This doesn't seem right so I would like some advice. Shouldn't the V block be flush against the receiver? Any advice? I have used a rubber mallet to seat the barrel. does the barrel have to be seated further?
ok, twisted the barrel and now the V block is straight. I assume then it does not fit tight against the receiver? My vblock is straight but it does not touch the receiver on any sides. Is this right?
When I replaced the barrel on my 77/22 with a GM barrel I had the same problem. Gm supplied a set of barrel and V-Block shims that fixed it. Maybe contact them about getting a set. http://www.gmriflebarrel.com/
your v-block fits against the notch in the barrel. if the barrel is seated in the receiver
and the v-block is straight torque to about 12-14 inch pounds and you're good to go.
Thanks for your help. Everything looks good for now.
