PRS is all about the props and positions, take those away and you don't have PRS.
It seems that some clubs have already started doing matches similar to what we were thinking. We're going to do a trial run this Saturday to see how it works out. We're going to have some NRL/PRS type stages where you can shoot off the regular props or shoot from a portable bench set up beside the props. Powerline Range near St Clairsville Ohio. We're also going to have some 50 yard benchrest ARA stuff set up for people to try. Bring your own 22LR rifle or we will have loaners on each stage. Some ammo will be provided with the loaners until we run out.
We didn't have any idea how many to expect. It was a good turnout. People started rolling in before the 10 AM start and we had steady shooters until about 2:30. We had all levels of experience from beginners to veteran competitors. It was a good day. Some shot the practice stages and some were just learning to shoot rifles at distance. I saw a lot of smiles.Expecting many people?
As long as everyone in my group is also only getting off 8 shots it keeps the competition roughly the same. Or if the group average is 8 shots make that the max number in the same 120 seconds. We have several 70 somethings in our group, all are capable of making the shots. The problem is that the arthritis/stiffness/pain limits our ability to change positions 5-6-9 times in 120 seconds. If we can only get off 8 shots on a couple stages, 40 points lost is tough. I wonder if an additional 10-15 seconds for oldsters would be a possibility. In the end, I guess we shoot it for the fun, not to get on the podium.
Did he say pee pads?…My hearing isn’t good either. How many of you guys where kneepads? Trick question
At the match we'll get to see where all our Social Security benefits go."Allowances for Old Guys"
