My scope was waiting for me when I got home from work. Needless to say, the first thing I did was fit it to my Ruger MkII. I have an Aimpoint mount that needed some WECSOGing. After about 20 minutes with the side of a flat ******* file, I was able to put the scope on. The base is solid and the scope fits like a glove.

After trying to resist the voices in my head for an entire hour, I broke down and went to the indoor 25 yd range at a gun club that I belong to. The first 10rds were 6" low and 3/4" left. Three mags later, it is hitting where I want it. I was shooting from a bench with the butt of the grip supported.

Winchester Wildcat .22lr HV WW22LR
5.5" Ruger MkII Target

Not bad for $30 shipped.

I want to try some good match ammo. What would you recommend?

I ended up getting the same mount for my MKII from midway. Great Price at $18 and Rock Solid. Unfortunately I see it is now listed as "discountinued by manufactuer".

I see you removed the front sight...What did you use to fill the hole? I still have my front sight in, but it looks weird, but I didnt want to have an empty hole.

i put a red dot on my buckmark awhile back, and that is the most fun i have had with a pistol in along time.a buddy of mine and i came up with this little game,i ran a screw into a golf ball then tied a string too it and hung it from a tree limb.stood back 20yds and started taking turns shooting the golf ball .you would be surprised how you can hit a moving golf ball with a red dot scope on your pistol.makes you think your annie oaklie lol.don

The quality seems to be good. The dot stays in the same place no matter where your eye is. It's lowest setting is bright enough to see against the black of a target and the brightest setting is almost too bright. The dot is 5moa and makes shooting a lot more enjoyable. At least to me.

I'll have to try the golfball thing. I'm also going to pick up a container of paintballs for the next trip to the range. How long does the golfball usually last?

I've been wanting to try a red dot scope on my savage 170 30-30. This should be a good trial run, especially for the price! Not crazy about 5moa but for short range in the swamp it wont matter. Thanx for the link and by the way......great shooting with that MKII!
