I just posted this in the "Stocks" section, but figured I'd cross post it here, since there's a particular interest here.
Hey everyone. I've been tossing around the idea of building a SBR off of a 10/22. My plan is to use the AGP folding stock, but I'm a little turned off by the lack of forend for standard barrels, particularly bull barrels.
I was tossing things around in my head, trying to figure out how to easily attach a forend without modifying the stock, and the design of the Magpul V-block light mount inspired me. I decided to model it and have it 3D printed.
It would have a ring of some sort to slip over the barrel and a forend that screws into that. Here's my design so far.
The first has a top handguard, similar to that of an M1 Carbine. I've included MLok slots at the 3, 6, 9, 10, and 2 positions for mounting accessories. The design could be lengthened or shortened, depending on the users preference. I also have a Keymod design.
The second would be a less expensive option that just uses 2 bands for the attachment.
My question is: How much would you be willing to pay for something like this? I've seen a lot of people want a forend for it, and I would want it as well.
Also, what other options would you like to see? Keep in mind, being 3d printed, the less material, the cheaper it'll be.
I do not currently have a AGP stock, but I plan on buying one soon. The biggest obstacle would be the barrel. I'm limited in my funds right now, so I can't buy one to prototype from, but if someone would be willing to send me a spare bull barrel, I would be happy to offer you a forend in the design of your choice, once I've completed the forend.
