504 Magazines

Picked up a nice 504 today. Now I've read both pro and con these, but decided to buy it anyway. This one is in 95%+ condition, will put a Leupold 2X7 rimfire on it to start and try a varity of ammo through it hopefully on Wed. Came with only 1 magazine and I would like to find a couple more if possible. Does anyone have any idea where a spare or spares might be located? Thanks in advance for any help.

GunParts corp has them
I'm finding very little negative information on these. What are the pluses and minuses? I'm wondering why they don't get more internet activity

Did a search of this forum for 504 and found zippo....(could be my search skills though)

Thanks in advance,
Fladv.
I've found both pro and con by gooogling. Read some articles that were positive, came across comments on another rimfire site that were mostly negative. Am going to try and get a scope up on mine and try latter today, but have a hectic schedule, may not be able to shoot til Friday.
They should be available from Remington. The 547 uses the same mag as the 504 I believe .
I have a couple of 504 magazines in their factory packaging if you're interested.
BobCL, found one extra so far, but am very interested. Will shoot you a PM.
These were plentiful not so long ago, but it looks like they're getting hard to find. My new ones are spoken for, and I'm going to keep the used ones for now.

From the pictures I've seen the 547 magazines were painted or coated black while the 504's were bare casting, but they're completely interchangeable.
504 magazine

Had a 504 and traded it in on a 547. Best way I found to get extra mags is to buy a 597 10 round mags at Walmart for $11.99 and do a slight modification that really works well. These mags are the same fit with the front locking groove placed lower. Measure the distance from the top of a 504/547 mag and use a file to create a new groove in the 597 mag. Doesn't fit flush but you have a 10 round mag at half the price. I think the 597 mag is a little more substantial. By starting your groove slight low and moving upward you can get a real tight fit.
