just a quick que to confirm something that has been bothering me for a
while.

my 453 Varmint is "floated" from the factory. but it seems a bit xtreme.
like 4 biz cards thickness can pass btwn the bbl and the stock.

is this normal?

thanks anyone,

Rico....

Well don't know about the 453V but my 452V was not quite a biz card floated. I opened it up some more just to make sure it was good. The biz card I use is laminated making it slightly thicker than normal.

Yours sounds like it is a bit on the open side though.

My 453 Varmint was like doubs43. I sanded the channel slightly (one side more than rest) and can now get business card (or more) all the way.
Four business cards is a lot. I would loosen the 2 action screws, wiggle the action a little to make sure it's seated correctly. Or, remove the action and see if one little chunk of wood is not inletted correctly and holding it up a hair. It would probably be at the part of the stock that holds the rectangular lug.

When I got mine it had the infamous touching on the right side issue, and so I had to sand mine out. Two business cards or maybe slightly more, and I'm happy now.
