What kind of accuracy can you expect from one. Messed with one a week, done the trigger, bedded it ,floated the barrel. Most groups are around the 1/2 range, more under it than above. most groups in the 1/4 to 3/8 if you take out the flyer. there is a flyer in every group. Does lot no. play as much with the 17 as it does 22 cal. I am shooting at 50yds also.

I do almost all of my paper punching with my 452 Varmint 17 HMR at 100 yards. I saw your post yesterday and since I happened to be going to the range I shot six, 5 shot groups at 50 yards. I used three different brands of ammo using the 17 grain V-Max bullet, CCI, Fed, and Hornady. Here are the results

CCI- .405" and .355"
Hornady- .330" and .395"
Federal- .495" and .360"

I looks like your 452 and mine are pretty comparable accuracy wise. I have done the trigger and free floated the barrel but no bedding work has been done. All my groups were pretty consistent without any bad flyers. But it does seem like I had one shot one in each group that opened the group up by an extra .75" to .100" with possibly the other four all touching.

I am relatively new to shooting, but have some years in the military and have instructed at Ft. Lewis M-16 and 1911 ranges in the early 70's. I have not owned a weapon for almost 25 years.

The first time I took my CZ .17HMR Varmint (no mods) to the range, I shot a couple of sub .5 inch 5 shot groups at 25 yards and a .5 inch group at 50 yards. Two weeks later I shot a .71 inch 5 shot group at 100 yards. I was shooting off of 2 well worn 4X4's covered with carpet and no rear support except my shoulder. I am not prone to good shooting, so I'd say the gun is very accurate.

I am looking forward to getting a Caldwell front rest and Protektor rear bag just to see what happens.

:)
