I never shoot a serious match even with high dollar ammo unless I weigh each round.
Weight sorting would have more than likely taken out the hot rounds that cost you the match.
I have had one point cost me a first place two different times. It was me and not the ammo but I don't intend to take a chance on it.
I had a round of the Federal 900 bearly make it out of the bore one day in practice. That would have been nice in a prone match.
