I am thinking of starting my first 10/22 project and was wondering how much a tricked out 10/22 will weigh? I am going for a .920 barrel, laminate stock, and barrel length from 18 to 20 inches.

Thanks.

Mine (mostly stock) weighs a tad over 5lbs with the carbine barrel and stock. That includes the Bushnell Sportsman 3-9x32 AO. Some others can help you with the .920 barrel and various stocks.

PS, I'm kinda wondering the same thing as soon will come the barrel and stock combo :).

Hey Moose,

I've got a couple with Boyds' Blasters that weigh over 9lbs.

One with a Snake fluted Volquartsen barrel and the other with a 20" SS Fluted GM barrel.

Over 9lbs. with the scopes, that is.

My heaviest 10/22 weighs 8.6 pounds. It wears a Fajen stock, Simmons Aetec scope and a 20" fluted barrel. I weighed it with my digital scale.

Thanks for all the replies guys! First I am goin to work on the action and get it like i like it first. Then get a barrel and stock. I've already added an extended mag release and used a dremel tool to make the auto-bolt release. I still don't know what to do to the trigger. I've heard that a sear and new springs help, but I don't know what brand or where to get them from.

For your trigger, all you need is the Volquartsen hammer, http://www.volquartsen.com/product.asp?pid=49.
Do a search for 10/22 trigger using the forum search option, and you will find out all you will ever need to know. Also look at tips and tricks.
Two of the best places to get it from, HawkTech Arms, http://www.hawktecharms.com/
And Rimfire Sports & Custom, http://www.rimfiresports.com/
Both have free shipping, and best of all, both support our website.
Also, one comment, I really like my Boyds barrel, at $64.95, it is hard to beat for a heavy 18" barrel. From the website,
100-070 RUGER 10/22 920 BARREL BLACK MAT $64.99
100-071 RUGER 10/22 920 BARREL SILVER MAT $64.99
The web link, http://www.boydboys.com
Look under accessorys. Look at there stocks also.
If you want a 20" barrel and or one with flutes, look no further than Ken at WFMB, and a GM barrel. Look here, http://www.riflebarrelsupply.com/
But most important of all is your membership here, it is the best money on a rimfire gun, and especially the 10/22 you will spend. More help and ideas than anywhere else you can look.

My 10/22 has an 18 inch GM heavy stainless non fluted barrel, Hogue overmold stock, BSA Contender Target 4-16x50mm (one huge scope), Millet rings, PC base.
The whole thing, with a light sling I made, weighs in at about 8.5 lbs.
The darn thing feels like it weighs 12 lbs though because it's so darn barrel heavy (the stock is very light).
