Hey everyone i know that ya'll know alot more bout this gun than i do my friend has the standard wood and blue 10/22 i traded it to him and it was shooting great when he first had it it shot great then accuracy all of the sudden dropped off i didn't tell my buddy but in my mind i blamed his cleaning it doesn't have a hole in the reciever but i had always been very careful when cleaning from the muzzle i don't know how careful he was anyway i decided to free float the barrel and remove the band well i did that and shot it today @ 50ft. leaning on the truck and got bout 1 inch groups so it was better than it had been :) any more advice ya'll might have what i can do without spending much money on it thanks

Since you said it "All of a sudden" started giving problems, I seriously doubt it was from a cleaning problem. I'd think improper cleaning would take a gradual approach to bad groups.

Is it scope mounted? If so, there is a myrad of things there that could have caused it..

Is he using some oddball ammo that is way different from what you used?
