Hey everyone i know that ya'll know alot more bout this gun than i do my friend has the standard wood and blue 10/22 i traded it to him and it was shooting great when he first had it it shot great then accuracy all of the sudden dropped off i didn't tell my buddy but in my mind i blamed his cleaning it doesn't have a hole in the reciever but i had always been very careful when cleaning from the muzzle i don't know how careful he was anyway i decided to free float the barrel and remove the band well i did that and shot it today @ 50ft. leaning on the truck and got bout 1 inch groups so it was better than it had been any more advice ya'll might have what i can do without spending much money on it thanks

Since you said it "All of a sudden" started giving problems, I seriously doubt it was from a cleaning problem. I'd think improper cleaning would take a gradual approach to bad groups.

Is it scope mounted? If so, there is a myrad of things there that could have caused it..

Is he using some oddball ammo that is way different from what you used?

he was using winchester xpert which used to shoot pretty good i was shooting with the open sights today and the groups where better than usual but i was also shooting federal lighting modified with a sgb maker i might get him to scope it so we can really see what it will do anyway thanks for the reply send any more info along
