I think a Volquartsen Exact edge extractor and target hammer go a long way in helping reliability and ease of shooting.

My 10/17 with dual extractors, would not extract until I put in the Volq. Exact Edge.
About 200 rounds now and no problems, it has the Whistle Pig barrel and I like it better every time I shoot it. Andy

Who's barrel are you using?

Is it a bonafide 10/17 barrel or a 77/17 barrel you're shimming or modifying?

Shoot, you're good to go then. I'd recommend the VQ extractor and maybe a power custom tool steel firing pin.

Make sure you've got a good trigger. I use the Volquartsen ultra match hammer/sear combo.
