Below is the original quote from Sawdust when he started the Grandfather of all games in RFC and more specifically SuperStock. He was tired of hearing "My rifle will shoot 1/8th inch groups all day long" This was his way of saying "Put Up or Shut Up":
Still four groups of 5 shots each but in SuperSport you have to shoot 4 out of 4 to make it.
Other than that why mess with perfection?

Well we were just starting out and shooting a SuperStock is harder than a SuperSport because of weight so a rule change or two is in order:

Okay so you way the heaviest SuperStock and the lightest SuperSport but what are MOST rifles going to be?
Also even so the tensioned barrels are supposed to be VERY accurate.
Let us be honest here. ANY good SuperStock or SuperSport with a half decent shooter can make this game. We have learned a lot in 8 years since Sawdust wrote the original rules. This is here for tradition and for beginning bench shooters and builders to gain confidence.
Vincent. You said the Super Sport rifles were haevier so they were easier to shoot. I was only saying that I checked and my Super Stocks weighed more. I find that the light rifles are just as easy to shoot and are very accuate . They have weight classes in competition because a heavy rifle is generally easier to shoot well. Benchrest is divided into Sporter, Light Varmint and Heavy Varmint because each is easier to shoot as they get heavier. Yes sometimes the light Varmint will beat the Heavy Varmint but it is generally accepted that a heavy rifle is easier to shoot well. Think about a 5.5 lb rifle bouncing around on the bags where a 15 pound rifle would barely move.

An Important thought...
We have gotten to the point that 1/4" at 25 yards does not impress us as much as it used to.
1/4" @ 25 is STILL less than 1 MOA and any semi auto that shoots less than 1 MOA at any range is still a pretty accurate rifle!

Absolutely right. We know how to build them but some folks are still learning how to shoot them that well. We forget now how hard it was for a some people to make this game. It took Ricochet weeks yet later he was not happy unless he was getting close to 1/8" groups. A couple people gave up altogether.
It is not always about the hammer. Sometimes it is the guy swinging it.

We know you are a knowledgeable guy so if you can add to the "Tech Section" we will be building please feel free to show us how you build yours. You built some great SuperStock rifles!

At least I qualified for one game today.
eley club, 10/22 with kidd 20" .920 and a revolution laminate stock, que bolt and VQ trigger parts.
top left .389-.217 = .172"
top right .458 - .217 = .241" (too close for comfort!)
middle .399 - .217 = .182"
bottom left .354 - .217 = .137"

so my new rifle seems to have qualified for the 1/4" game first time out, no adjustments other than sight in. Seems the kidd barrels are pretty consistent in their bedding preferrences.
