      Many thanks for the reply compadre.

      Thinking of using a UTG MNT-22TOWL pitcatinny scope mount:
      http://www.opticsplanet.net/leapers-weaver-picatinny-style-22-tactical-scope-mount-mnt-22towl.html but was not sure it would line up correctly with the T6 handguard rail.

      What model numbers on the UTG sights you are using? What do you think of them? How's the cheekweld and sight picture with the straight stock adapter?

      While I got you could I ask you a favor? I posted a question about measurements on the T6 at:

      The standard factory rail is the 3/8" dove tail rail which is standard for most 22s and air rifles. Most other rifles use 1" Weaver rails which have a couple cross slots for the rings. The slot prevent the rings from slipping forward or back which is sometimes a problems on 22s with the standard rails. Though that is more the result of cheap aluminum rings which tend to loosen up.

      Your options include

      1. Use the factory supplied rail for the 3/8" rings.

      2. Buy an aftermarket rail (Weaver or others) for standard size 1" rings if you already have a scope with 1" rings or you prefer them over the 3/8' rail.

      3. Buy an aftermarket rail (Weaver) that allows mounting either 1" or 3/8" rings. Allows you to use either type of ring.

      4. Buy a picatinny rail for 1" rings. These have multiple slots. Useful if you want to mount a scope or red dot with 1" rings but doesn't fit the spacing of the Weaver rail slots.       5. Buy a once piece rail/ring set like the Leeper's Accushot. These get good reviews for a real solid hold on a scope.

      The rings came with the scope so I assume they're the height needed given the size of the objective lens.

      The Ironsighters mount is ~0.6" of the total height, but it was the lowest I could find of the "clamp on" type.

      Is this Leapers mount the one you guys recommend?

      It will require drilling and tapping the 795, right? Or are the screws in the mount only "set screws" that push down but don't go into the rifle?

      To have a set-up that you will use both the scope and/or the irons you will need the see-thru rings and I have never seen a combo that works..they all suck IMO..but the UTG base #MNT-22TOWL has a slot milled in the center that will allow you to remove the scope and leave the base and still use the factory irons..will need quick release rings on your scope to facilitate quick on/off and still maintain your zero.

      I did install it on the lower one meant for the weaver. Actually that was the reason for the first thread. I thought at first Ruger probably had a proprietory base with proprietory rings. Then I realized that the lower part is meant for Weaver compatible and the upper part for the dovetail type.
