Get a one piece like this.

There a couple others similar but the one piece really locks on the dove tail and stops it fron sliding due to the bolt recoil.
I'll second that recommendation. I just installed one after taking off a scope with two separate mounts and was surprised how much better the one piece grabs on to that dovetail. I couldn't get it to budge after just finger tightening it down. Good mount, good price...

Been using two of the Leapers/UTG mounts on mine, got a BSA 3-9x40 AO Sweet 22 on one and a 30mm tube version for an 8-32 BSA China knock-off. Neither scope has walked since switching to these mounts.

Just ordered the Mueller APV 4.5-14x40AO for my Marlin mod 60. Since it is also a 40 obj scope, I assume it should fit the same as your BSA, just longer.

Did you get the medium or high profile leapers?

I was about to order the BLK-260 which others posted works with my scope in a medium, when I ran into this post. But I think this Leapers is lower than the BLK, wonder if I should get the high...

Had a similar issue with mine a few years ago and it was aggravating. It was the scope mount / rings. switched to this mount that clamps to the whole dovetail mount and it fixed the problem. The mounting surface on a dovetail is so small and is plastic so regular dovetail ring just dont bite well enough to keep the scope from moving even if you can tell it is. Have this mount on all my dovetails and it is rock solid.
