I think these might be what you need, I bought one of these a few years ago just for the inserts - http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Search.htm?s=530320

They also have a hood that works, I will try to find that number also, there are a couple and some are to big.

There has been someone selling the same thing on eBay for over a year for $9 or so - I think he could just buy them from Numrich as he sells them. He list them as "Mossberg style" and has been informed as to what they really are and that they are available thru Numrich for less.

I think this is the hood I bought that goes well with that sight - http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Products/557400.htm

Thanks Sav22. That hood is exactly what I have on this rifle and the Front sight w/3 inserts looks very simuler to the ramp I have. The only difference is the length of the slot for the hood and mine may have a narrower slit for the inserts .But at $7 ,I think it is worth a try!
      Thanks again for the help!

The Model 7's seem to be a little harder to find than any of the others. Yours is the 7-S model that had the special sight set. I will have to check my catalogs but it is possible the sling mounts are also factory ** added**checked, slings were only offered separate in the backs of the catalogs. I also find the Model 7 is listed in a 1946 price list but not in 1947 & later.

The peep sights are often sold on eBay and NOS front sight parts are available from Numrich/Gunparts - No. 100 sight, Hood, the hood measurements match an example I have.

Be careful turning the rear sight blade around, it should almost fall out as it is, but might require a little bit of prying to get it back in the correct way and I have seen a lot of these rear sights with one of the hooked prongs broken off.

Numrich has some of the sight parts you need, to get the inserts for the front you will have to buy the whole sight, but it does have the correct wire clip and I don't think yours does - http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ad/530320.htm

I think this is the correct size hood, slides on over the wire clip. - http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ad/557400.htm

They also have the mounting nuts for the rear sight if you ever find one and doesn't have it - http://www.gunpartscorp.com/Products/1304530.htm

Stevens had a hooded ramp sight that took inserts and a single post that took a hood, not sure which you have but I am thinking the single post??? Numrich has hoods for the ramp type, they would fit the single post but would be longer than the correct one, they also have a shorter hood that might be right but I am not sure if it's the same diameter.

Long Hood - https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/557400 for this sight - https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/530320 (notice this is finally out of stock, I've been giving people this link for years, it must have been what some people needed! I wish I would have bought a couple more....).

Here's the shorter hood, listed for a number of Stevens & Savage rifles - https://www.gunpartscorp.com/products/990630A

It's a No 100 sight and they were put on the '-S' versions of the Models 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 and Stevens variants, if your gun is set up for a No 105 peep sight it is the original front sight. The term 3-S & etc was only used in the catalogs and was not stamped on the guns.

Numrich used to sell the sight base with the three inserts but I see they are now sold out. I believe they still have the correct size hoods in stock. There also is a small 'U' shaped wire that holds the insert in place until the hood is slid on, the hood has much more force than the wire and holds the insert very firm.

What front sight do you have? Is it the ramp with changeable inserts? If so I think that hood is to short, it might work but would not look right. The shorter ones are for a non-ramp post sight that mounts in the dovetail that were used on later rifles.

Here's one that I've used and it matches the originals - sight hood

That originally had a peep sight, the front ramp is correct but must be missing the original inserts, wire clip and hood. Forum member Bone had some replacement inserts made for the front sight and the hoods are available from Numrich. The milled down area at the right rear of the receiver is to allow the bolt to be swung down and removed without needing to remove the peep sight.

Sight hood - gunpartscorp/products/557400 This hood is gaped so it requires the wire clip to fit tight, there is a shorter hood that is tight enough to work without the clip, but it is not really correct. The one you have will probably work and it gives the gun some character. The gun as it is has a lot of character, I like it.

ADDED - that is a very early gun with the early bolt design. For the peep sight it probably is fir the early type and has two narrow parallel groves with a screw hole in between for the peep sight instead of a single wide flat with a hole in the middle.
