      To each his own....but you are defeating the purpose of a Takedown by putting a fat heavy barrel on it. These are not bench rifles, but survival/camping/hunting rifles, so they need to stay as light as possible. I am even having second thoughts about scopes for mine & may just go with the Ruger Peep's:

      But, if you are using the factory rail, even when the scope is off you can't see the rear sight.
      
      I am really thinking about ditching the scope and going with a receiver mounted peep and front firesight:

      A scope and a Takedown just don't sit right with me...........

      Why not just go with Rugers receiver mounted peep?

      I wanted the target knobs. I've got a Williams with the target knobs on a 72/22 and like it alot so..... I hate having to carry around a screwdriver or utility tool to adjust sights.
