10/xx project (3-caliber receiver)

Log in to see fewer ads
For those members, guests or "lurkers" who missed the original thread, I have finally built a proto-type of what I call the "10/xx projcet" -- a 3-caliber 10/22 (17) receiver.

The LOM (laminated object manufacturer) model was submitted to the BATFE for approval as a "non-firearm", the so-called 80% partially-completed receiver. The proto-type completed receiver was built from a 0% aluminum billet.

Here's some more close-ups of the finished product.

I should be able to test fire this in the .22lr configuration next week. Not looking for groups at this point in time, but just a function test. I still need to fabricate the .22wmr (.17hmr) bolt as well as locate a couple barrels to use in the magnum test, but that's next on the list!

A big THANKS to everyone who has supported me in this project

That's awsome! All you'd need would be a new bolt and barrel, and you'd be set. What will they cost?

I may be lost here, but is this similar to what ChiefDave was talking about in the 22 mag forum?? A setup that will allow us to shoot 22LR, 22Mag, and 17 HMR from the same receiver??

I don't think so. Chiefdave's mod will let you use the original receiver, but you will have to modify it in some way. PM him for details.
