Hunting euphemisms: caving to the PC crowd?

My apologies if this is too political. Please delete me if I'm out of line.

My question has to do with my recent experience coming back into hunting after some time off and noticing magazine writers, brochures from gun makers, websites, etc. using a new kind of lingo. maybe it's been there a long time and I just didn't notice.

Typical are things like saying "harvested" instead of "shot" and "take" instead of "kill."

When I was a boy I wanted to shoot an antelope. Today gun writers teach us how to harvest them. When I was a young man I killed a deer. Today gun makers advertize products that will help me "take" them.

Is this caving to PC realities, is it Orwellian, or what? Is it still OK to say "kill" and "shoot"?

Again, sorry if this is a violation of the new community forums ban. I'm certainly not trying to get something started between donkeys and elephants.

That's the funniest and most uninformed thing I've heard in a long time. You have no idea who I am, none whatsoever. Moreover, your comment is itself the very thing you accuse me of--trying to start something. Making snap judgements like this is a good way to end up feeling very foolish.

Bill...

It's strictly PC trash.

When My body ceases to function, and all inside it stops, I fully intend to "DIE"

.. I have no desire to "pass" or "pass on" even.

Ooooohhh I must stop. It's becoming "icky" to talk straight.

I always make a point to use shoot, shot, or kill whenever discussing hunting with non-hunters, and I use them in a matter-of-fact tone. I don't sugar-coat it or use euphemisms. I tell it like it is, as the more often they hear it the less sensitive to it they'll become. Plus it gets their panties in a bunch!

I agree with Grouseman totaly, there is no point in pretending that shooting an animal is something it isnt, you might as well face up to the bare facts that killing an animal is killing an animal regardless of whether you eat it or take its hide or just leave it for the carrion crows, i guess this might sound like i'm an anti-hunter but believe me, i'm not. The only reason why people are so finniky about being PC in todays society is because they are afraid it might offend someone, people have become so obsessed with being PC that they forget they are entitled to opinions of their own.
Just my rant about society, hope it doesnt p**s off, sorry ANNOY any overly PC people.

Harvesting

Whether you're eating hamburger or chicken from the meat processor, or squirrel and deer from the woods, the animals had to die before we could consume them. You can't go out to the garden and pick a steak. People of dubious intelligence and breeding would question eating animal flesh, killing animals, having animal pets, using animal parts in products (leather, bone, feathers, etc.); they are the fringe low lifes of society. Too bad the law won't allow the normal majority to dispose of them.
Phil In Alabama,

The word "Harvesting", as used here, is a term used in Wildlife Biology & Wildlife Management. It has nothing to do with the death of the product.
