soon to arrive cm-2 vostok

hello
just purchased this as a project. don't know if good price or not but i thought it would work.
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=182819702
anybody tell me how rare these sights are? are there inserts for the front that are available.
also how easy is it to get the regular diopter sights and how much do they run?
is there a side scope mount made for this or will it need to be d&t. i would prefer to make a mount instead of d&t but if it would not hold zero then d&t might be the option i have to go with..
also i have been reading alot on this but never seen any with this type sights, i know the stock is not the best but if i clean it up and finish to the color i want who cares.
are there stocks also available for these if i so decide to go with another one.
any more information that i should know or watch out for before i start shooting it once i get it here.
i know finding the right ammo is always fun but is there certain ammo that you use that these prefer or they don't like.
whish me luck and can't wait till it gets here.

Project Vintage Vostok CM-2

You might real the following thread for some answers to your questions.
VOSTOK CM-2 & Ural (УРАЛ) Rimfires Redone
Also, please take some before photos prior to beginning of your project.
After you're finished ... consider adding your rifle to the thread.

After looking at the photos of your rifle at the Gun Broker auction,
the CM-2 appears very complete - nice.

Rear Notch

I had not noticed the notched rear sight vs peep eyepiece.
But, I really don't know much about Vostok Ural/CM-2 vintage match rifles.
doubs43: Vostok CM-2
However, it does appear someone has altered the rear sight assemble or something is missing.
I can't imagine a target shooter using a rear notch for competition.
Maybe the notch is for rough sight alignment ... but, I doubt it.
More VOSTOK Ural (УРАЛ)
I speculate ... perhaps, it was an experiment by a hard-core open-sight shooter - peep sight skeptic.
As such, it is rare ... but, hardly worthwhile.

that is great info.
work is busy and i probably do not have time to make one, but do you guys think randy at cpc (or any other members) would make a mount for the side railers that alot of us own? that way we don't have to drill and tap the cm-2's that we all have.
just me thinking out loud

azizaavr will have me a mount soon. can't wait, but will happily wait.

once optics are on boy will i have some major fun feeding this all kinds of ammo.

done some shooting but only 50 foot indoors so no surprise there yet. will be happy to get longer ranges to see what this can do. the sight on it would take alot to get use to so i have ordered another set of diaopter sights for this instead of the plain flat 1 line sights that are currently on it. i think it was someones idea that probably failed miserable.

any of you out there have lets say 3 favorite ammos that it likes like the best, 2nd best and backup to the backup.

come on guys and let me have some of the favorite ammo that these love to eat.

pretty soon i will redo the stock and color it, but i think that is going to have to wait till winter gets here as work is still really busy and that will give me something to do when i do not shoot as much and when i can tailor to anything my hands feel like doing to this.

since the wrists on these have a tendence to break or come broken from earlier owners is there a way that any of you guys have beefed them up to make it more solid.
