40X handstops?

OK, along with 99 others I got my order in for a 40X std. barrel. Does anyone know where to procure the handstop, or a handstop for the riflle? TIA

The handstops are a little harder to find for the older standard barrel models from my experience..and it will be even harder now.

Good luck,
Rob

I've picked up a couple on Ebay.

Remington lists a 40x handstop on their parts page for $50, I think you need the swivel and the screw as well.

Familiar????

Joe,

There are two styles of hand stops as you pictured but are not correct in the description.

One style, the small round one, belongs on all 40X's regardless of barrel weight. The 40X was made in both HB and Standard barrel. It so happens the CMP sold only the standard barrel 40X's so people think all 40X 's are standard barrel.

The other style belongs on only 40XB, again regardless of barrel weight. The 40XB was also made in both barrel weights. Again the CMP only sold the XB in a heavy weight barrel.

The 40X (1955 to 63/4) preceeded the 40XB (1963/4 to 72). The point being there were two models, 40X and 40XB without regard to barrel size.

Gotchya BJ..

What I meant was (since I assumed he was talking about handstops for the new release of CMP 40x's and I say 40X genarally speaking) that if you got a standard barrel 40x then the small one would be correct for it and if the HB then it would be the other style..I was trying to keep it basic.

Thanks for the clarification,
Rob

Another member and I from the CMP forum will be manufacturing reproduction 40-X handstops in the near future. Both of us are engineers, and they will be made by CNC as opposed to cast aluminum.

Will do. I plan on posting a thread when we have finished products. We are looking for a supplier for the swivel and bolt as of right now. We already have drawn the stop in SolidWorks and will be making a prototype on Monday.

Wow, I just might be up for one.

Last year a guy sent me a 40x handstop. It's either the wrong handstop or the one for the other later forend rail.

These should be identical to the original, but a little bit better quality as they will be cut as opposed to cast. We are planning on a better finish as well, one that will not flake off so easily.

Absolutely no idea yet. Sounds like they wont be very expensive, but we arent producing large quantities either - so that hurts us a bit. I found one complete assembly at a hole in the wall gunshop in the middle of nowhere for $46.15, but we are aiming for a bit less than that. I hope to have details posted at the end of this week.

Outstanding! You gotta love free enterprise. Look forward to the final product.
