Being them kinda non-standard, what are the choices for someone looking into smaller round aperture?

Altius carries some which are Anschutz with the tabs files to fit the Izhmash globe. I wanted some inserts with larger openings and have contacted a laser cutting outfit to make some up for me. I might end up with a full set and will inform the group if I have enough made up to sell off a few sets.

I bought these for my CM-2's and like them. You need to do some slight fitting for them to fit though.

There was a thread where it was suggested the Parker-Hale sights were needed for the CM-2's so that's what I bought.

I have an anschutz front globe with an adjustable aperture and other globes including Brno, Lyman, and Anschutz that came with inserts and yet my favorite
front sight combination is the stock front sight on my CM-2 with plastic inserts. The globe itself is not important. The absence of the cross bar gives me an ideal sight picture. I used a black roller ball pen on the chamfered area to make it a darker ring. I got my plastic inserts which are 18mm from champchoice and used a nail file to reduce the OD to fit the Russian globe.

Kevin6q, I might be interested in those and the sight extensions as well. How many interested parties are you looking for?

Can you elaborate on the amount of fitting required for them to be used in a CM-2?

Sure, you file a tiny bit off of sides A, B, and C until it fits into the slot on the front sight. I mic'ed the original and then the new one. I just removed the difference with a small fine file. It took about 2 minutes to do and that was taking my time.

Make sense?

Keith

This is NOT the set you want. This is just a random pic to show you where to remove the metal.

When I clicked on your link it went to a blank page. This is what I ordered and worked for me. I copied/pasted this off of my order confirmation email.

The bolded numbers are the Brownells number.

Contemporary CM-2 ... NOT Vintage VOSTOK CM-2

The following thread applies to current issue CM-2s ... NOT vintage VOSTOK CM-2s.

He told me he couldn't retool for small orders
but had some of these for the BRNO which were 17mm diameter,
so I tried them and they fit.
Here's a couple of pics of the inserts and holder.

Looking thru the different posts and threads it looks like there are at least two different front sights.
This one is larger than some I see posted about.

I ordered a pack of Lee Shaver inserts for LG LYMAN/ANSCHUTZ.

However, the Lee Shaver set that worked(with some filing on the tabs)....
