Rear irises

My chief complaint with my CM-2, (and I don't complain much about something that shoots this well for this kind of money) is the non standard thread size of the rear sight iris. If I could find a 9.5X1 metric tap I could open it up and use standard anschutz/gehman, etc. irises. Has anyone yet had the talent to make rear irises for these russian sights with a smaller diameter aperture?

The following threads may have some information that could help:

I had the same sort of frustration. You might try Altius ... They're the USA contact for Larsen Biathalon. Larsen Biathalon makes an Ishmash Iris. I don't know if this is the 9 x 1 of the Ishmash sight or if Larsen sends their Ishmash's with standard sights. I think the latter is the case due to comments on other threads about the biathalon rifles taking standard anschutz front sight inserts. I know there is a standard thread pattern that's really close, but I didn't like not using the right size and having to teflon tape or locktite the sight to keep it secure. I had a 9.5 x 1mm tap made so I could fit an iris in securely. I'd be willing to tap your sight for you if you like. Here's a pic of mine.

My CM-2's unfortunatly away at the surgeon and won't be back for 2 weeks. Having that other problem of the non standard rail taken care of.
