Well all,

here's two more versions of the Biathlon basic thanks to our Russian rimfire enthusiasts.

First, a folding stock.

And second....a REAL sweet setup.

I'll work on translating it later but these are the latest that I found.

BI-7-2 Versions

It is amazing ... the stuff we don't get.

I'm wondering who the marketing genuises are that decide
to not introduce these models to the US market.

Or, why no US importer/dealer has discovered these versions for small number import.
If not the complete rifle, then, at least the stock.

I think that these two are home made samples. The folding stock looks a lot like various side folding shotgun stocks on the market. Probably a Russian or at least a European brand but I haven't looked for similar stocks in depth since I don't need one.

The take down Sobol is more than likely a gunsmith special. It looks like it has a forearm locking mechanism such as side x side double barrel shotguns.

I'm surfing the various Russian website to see if I can find anything but my rusty (VERY rusty) Russkie is getting rustier so I've been relying on online translators.

That folding stock looks a little unstable?

I agree they look like projects.
It does win the "how high can you go" scope mount.

I believe the folding stock is made by http://stk.udmnet.ru/

It is the same one used by many to add to their Baikal MP-153 semiauto shotguns.

Here it is in their product catalogue:

Great find TOZMAN.
Now, is there a US source for these products?

I know that a couple of years ago they were trying to find a distributor in the USA. I don't know how far they went. I had a discussion with their manager on another forum. Can't remember his name.

You may contact them directly and inquire.

Excellent source of images and to a lesser extent information.
Guys, all of us need to exploit this website for pertinent information.
And, perhaps one of us maybe able to establish contact
with a Russian enthusiast who is willing to work with us.

I've tried to register as a member but to no avail.
And, there is no English translation available.

I use the following for text and website translation:

Language Tools
Far from perfect ... but, useful nevertheless.

A good thread to follow on that Russian forum is http://talks.guns.ru/forummessage/56/316184-35.html

The title is : "Tuning of Toz-78 and modifications"

Even if you don't understand Russian, there are good photos to look at there. Here is a picture on the 35th page

No, you're not off-topic.
This is exactly what I speaking of.
GUNS.Ru is a potential gold mine for images and information.

Oh, by the way, Tozman.
You posted one picture from the GUNS.RU thread.
How about some more.
