STICKEY Guidelines for Posting

1st, as a minimum, the purpose of this stickey.
To consolidate some project images to create interest
in refinishing/refurbishing older rifles.
And, should serve as a focal point
for disseminating information on existing threads
for refinishing/refurbishing: stocks, actions, sighting equipment,
triggers and other elements.
As such, BEFORE and AFTER picture would be appreciated.
A quote from your thread and/or a brief summary should be included.
Each project rifle owner would create his or her own thread
and then post a link to their thread, some images
and a brief summary of their thread at this stickey.
2nd, the stickey should not be for posting discussions or comments.
Discussions/Comments would take place in the individual threads.
This stickey would serve as the conduit to each individual thread.
3rd, if you're not comfortable with these guidelines.
Post what you can ... I'll do the rest.

If you have digital pictures. But don't know how to post them.
E-mail them to me and I will host/post them for you.

If you have photo prints. But don't know how to post them.
Mail them to me with a stamped, self-addressed, return envelope.
I will scan, host and post your photos. And, return the original prints.
The images will be at a public hosting site.
You will have access to them.

Don't have a "before" pic, but here's the "after".
Target:

Basic Information:
Quote:
1. Receiver markings (Vostok, Ural-2?, Serial #=A-13xx I believe these #s may have been stamped
or engraved by the importers or for the importers.
Engraved on mine, not stamped like the rest of the IDs.
2. Type of receiver (octagonal, top 11mm rail, fore and aft of port, button bolt release left side.)
3. Type of bolt (3 lugs, threaded plastic knob.)
4. Loading ramp or bullet guide. Yes
5. Type of trigger (SLICK...2 screws in front of blade, take-up/engage and pull?)
6. Type of rear sight (no identification name, micrometer elev. & wind. one size iris
7. Type of metal finish...Looks to be baked on painted finish, barrel is hammer forged straight taper .882in. / 22.4mm
8. Any deviations in the basic stock (Mine has a flat cut top behind rec. over grip) like the new CM-2s.
I've seen some that are curved in this area.
9. Checkering on forestock is a panel on the side. There is also a pin (about 3/32) through the grip from the bottom.

Well I reckon this is a Vostok Ural and not a CM2 after all.
Turns out there was some pretty fair looking wood under the shellac.
Here are some pictures after I refinished the stock....

I noticed on the box that it did indeed come from Century and it is coded as "good"....

White House's USSR Serial Number M-1100

CM-2 Home & Inspected w/details

My Ural (1) and lots of pictures

White Houses Public Album: whitehouse_2008

white houses rifle:

Stock has "1100" deeply imprinted in black ink at most distal point before muzzle.
There is an embedded aluminum slide rail from 1-11cm graduations ventrally in the forearm stock for attachments.
Bolt Arm (not knob) has "1100" imprinted, bolt knob has 3 ring grooves.
Receiver has "Made in USSR VOSTOK YPAA M-1100" and beds flat on top of inside stock channel cut out for it. There are serrations in receiver bed and upon stock where the metal bedding is imprinted on the wood. There are 3 receiver screws, two going through the trigger guard assembly (one steel piece) into receiver bottom and one going through top of back of bolt sleeve (end) into mating receiver (bottom behind trigger guard). There is a "459" number stamped on bottom of receiver hidden by stock.
Barrel is 26" and completely free floating and clear of all stock contact except for receiver bed.
Wood to metal fit is perfect with a little space between all abutments.
Bolt has 3 rear locking lugs equilaterally spaced and machined to fit evenly and snug when bolt is locked.
There is no corrosion or rust or discoloration of any metal anywhere. Bluing is even and deep shiny black from front sight and muzzle (not crown-crown is silver and shiny and recessed perfectly by visual and magnified inspection) to end of receiver where it beds (tang of bolt sleeve area) in hand grip.
Stock is cut checkered with palm swell and on forearm. Stock has no cracks or splits or any sign of trauma with receiver. All receiver screws screw in evenly and to same tightness without any effort to secure stock and barrel assembly/receiver.
Buttplate is a 3 piece affair; an inner steel insert blank that is screwed into stock butt, aluminum base screwed into blank, moving (sliding) aluminum butt-plate with rubber at end.
Lands and grooves are 6. Lands appear to have extra ridges to contact surfaces in addition to contact plane (designed by rifling tool) for purchase on bullet side surfaces).
Chamber has no evidence of firing ring ahead of case (as is most often seen in most chambers where cartridges have been fired).
Buttplate has "1100" imprinted top side, has knurled adj knob on right side for butt adjustment. Rubber pad on heel of buttplate.
Sights imprinted: "UEHA 1 WE AYK/\ HR 50 -2.5CM"
Underside of barrel imprinted: "CM2 .22LR KNOX TN"

Sights mount on left side rail.

Bore is perfect.
Crown is perfect.
A lever on left side releases the bolt from action.

harris hawks "Vostok" Ural

2. Type of receiver (Octagonal receiver, left side rail for rear sight, left side bolt release lever)
3. Type of bolt (BK-3 three lug bolt, small 16mm round knob with three grooves around it)

5. Type of trigger (Three bolts holding the trigger plate on, two flat blade type adjusting screws, oval hole in bottom of trigger guard for access to the adj screws, and if the wind blows on the trigger it'll go off!)
6. Type of rear sight (Diopter type with wind, and elev knobs, marked UEHA 1 WE/\YA over HA 50M-2.5mm)
7. Type of metal finish, including any barrel covering(Stepped barrel, 22mm dia. at end of barrel, 26" barrel length, concave recessed crown, no barrel cover/sleeve, black bluing, and with a 38mm length front globe aperture insert type front sight)
8. Any deviations in the basic stock (Blonde stock with a pin in the bottom of the pistol grip)
9. Other features not mentioned(Excellent bore condition, looks like new, very accurate shooter with the irons, however, it won't hardly chamber CCI SV 40gr RN ammo, paid $399 from Century)

This is my "Vostok" Ural, I'll post my "Vostok" CM-2 latter.

“Vostok” CM-2

I picked up my replacement CM-2 and am happy with this one. I haven't cleaned it up and the only pics I have for now are the ones linked below.

MG-70s public site for his rifle.

Rear sight info. for this rifle can be found here:
https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums...=239462&page=2

1. Receiver markings: “Vostok” CM-2 Made in Russia and CCCP in Pentagon. Sight rail on left side.
3. Type of bolt: Small knob, no lugs (only bolt handle), dual extractors
4. Has Loading ramp or bullet guide
5. Type of trigger (Three bolts holding the trigger plate, trigger appears to be 2-way adjustable)
6. Type of rear sight: Diopter type with wind, and elev knobs, marked UEHA 1 WE/\YA over HA 50M-2.5mm. Front globe aperture insert in front sight.
7. Type of metal finish, including any barrel covering: Stepped at end of barrel, recessed crown, no barrel cover/sleeve, epoxy-type black enamel.
8. Stock looks to be a light walnut; definitely not beech.
9. Other features not mentioned: matching bolt and adjustable buttplate. TGI Knox TN import marked under barrel. Safety orange, plastic, decal on left side of buttplate with a drawing of a .22LR round, Russian text, and "Made in Bulgaria".

Note, I didn't have time to take measurements yet, however, with the exception of the details of the trigger, trigger guard, and bolt, description was nearly identical to "harris hawk's" "Vostok Ural.

No cracks that I can see.
Maybe it was put in there just in case it did crack.
