No scopes, No dots, No reflex sights...just good old iron sights....
Two catagories...
Antique...any rifle that qualifies under the established rules of SuperStock Bolt that was manufactured prior to the "Gun Control Act of 1968".....
This includes those old rifles made before serial numbers were required.
Modern....any rifle that qualifies under the established rules of SuperStock Bolt that was manufactured after 1968.
Any type of iron sight including V-notch, U-notch, square notch, and peep sights.
To avoid conflicts, no dual sights like scope over irons with "see thru" rings.
The Game.....
5 shot groups, 4 groups per target plus 4 sepperate measuring shots.
3 out of 4 groups must come in at or less than 3/4" or .750" all targets must be shot at a distance of 25 yards.
Use any target of your choice as long as it contains 4 crosshairs or bulls with enough room to include your 4 measuring shots so they are clearly sepperate from the group shots.
Using calipers, measure each of your 4 measuring shots, add them up and divide by 4, this will be your subtracting average. Now measure the farthest distance of your 4 groups, subtract the average from the measuring shots and this will give you a center to center distance of your groups. If at least 3 of these groups measure at or less than 3/4" or .750" you're in....
Scan or photograph your winning targets, up load them to a photo hosting sight such as Photobucket, then attach the image link with your post. A photo of your rifle is good, but not required.
When posting a winning target, please include information about your rifle....(Antique or Modern, type of sights, any mod's, and ammo used)....also include some general information about the weather and any other conditions that may have effected your shooting in a good or bad way.
Please note the following addition to the game rules: (they will apply to all submissions placed after 3/26/2008).....
Targets submitted for this game should be targets recently shot while attempting to qualify for this game, this means digging up old targets you shot previously, and submitting them for this game will no longer fly. All targets should be marked in pen with the date, and "SS/B Irons Only", along with rifle, ammo, and all other information. All targets submitting must include the 4 sepperate measuring shots, and all calculations clearly marked.
Any contestant that doesn't own a set of calipers, or doesn't know how to post a photo or scan of their target, feel free to PM me for my mailing address, and I'll be glad to score your target and post it for you
This is a fun challenge, especially for us old guys sporting bi-focals, enjoy and enter as many rifles that you have.......
