New Biathlon toggle handle design....can anyone duplicate?

OK gang,

I just got an E-mail from Larson about a new toggle handle that will be available this year.

It can be seen on Kati Wilhelm's Izhmash on her websites opening page.
http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.kati-wilhelm.de/&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dkati%2Bwilhelm%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG

No word on price but it's not going to be cheap so that's where I figured that someone here can make a similar design.

Since my first rifle's handle fell off I might try to make something similar but I doubt that it will end up being worth anything to talk about.

Scott

I happen to have some more pics of this new toggle. I had the same idea of making one myself but have not got around to it yet. Maybe these pics can help you out. Wouldnt mind getting that stock as well.

Lehman,

Welcome to RFC!

Thanks for the photos and link to the video.

It looks much better than the factory Biathlon basic handle that's for sure.

I'm just wondering what they will cost? I know they won't be cheap so I may have to end up modifying my factory handle for the time being.

Have shot ...

the Iszmash toogle (SWEEET!!) and my Marlin 2000.
I wonder if you really gaining, you're still moving the hand for functioning the action.
The rotating grip seems nice but there's only one spare rifle allowed per team and you're on you on as an individual.

Is this a solution looking for a problem to solve?

I only have 1 & 1/2 seasons under my belt, so take the above at face value.

Further study suggest the handle won't be of much help unless you have a pistol grip stock

BI 7-4 Left Hand & Carbon Fiber Parts

Interesting there is an Anchutes sight on the rifle in one of the photos.
I've made several parts for my 7-4 from carbon fiber. (See: BI 7-4: Carbon Fiber Parts)
A new butt plate and cheek comb are the most obvious.
I've thought of a new toggle but the one I have seems to work quite well.
My 7-4 is a lefty and there are photos posted somewhere.
If you can't find them I can add some.

left hand 7-4: Want to try one before buying? PHOTOS & More PHOTOS & SHOOTER

The new butt plate and comb took almost 10 oz. off the total weight of the rifle.
I also made a new sling and CF shooting cuff.
The cuff has a tunnel allowing the artery and nerves to pass with no pressure from the cuff.

I can make up new toggles from CF.
I can clone the original (mostly for looks and saving a few grams)
or something new like the bit on Kati's rifle.
It'd be a fun project
and something I was planning on doing for my rifle anyway.

Mostly I was planning on making it a bit longer so I didn't have to reach up for the piece.
The LH toggle looks similar to the RH version on Kati's gun.
Not exact but the fore/aft extensions.
There are photos at the end of this link:

I began making the plug for the mold for a toggle similar to the one Larson imports.
My design is based on conversations I had with several athletes while at the US Nationals in MN.
If all goes well the toggle will be modular so a custom fit for each shooter can be assembled.
To start, the shape as a single piece will be made.
With luck, I'll have a prototype for testing and pics for you all in a week or so.
