TOZ 78/Winchester Wildcat mag differences

The other day at a local gun show, I noticed a couple of what looked like 10rd TOZ-78 mags in the loose magazine box on a vendor's table. The same vendor also had a Win Wildcat that I'd looked over briefly. So I bought the mags, and when I looked at them closely, there seemed to be some slight variations between these mags and those of my TOZ-78-01:

Wildcat 10rd mag on the left. The mag on the right with the EP'ed serial # is my orig. TOZ 10rd. mag, used for comparison.

The mag on the left, with the more square bullet cutout, is the wildcat mag. This mag would not feed properly in my TOZ-78.
A close up look at the difference in the texture of the two magazines.

The two wildcat mags didn't lock into place in my buddy's '78. There must be a difference in tolerance of the two mag catch assemblies.

different mags for different rounds?

Well, I did some more experiments today in getting various 'irregular' .22 rimfire loads to feed in my TOZ 78-01.

I tried to get it to feed some super colibris and I observed why they would not feed from my standard TOZ mags. The short, pointy, little bullet was running into the front 'ogive' on the TOZ mag opening and would not exit the mag.

So, that gave me the idea of trying the super colibris in wildcat mags w/ the square bullet cutout. Edit: I'd found earlier that my 10rd wildcat mags would feed the super colibris in my TOZ-78, but I only tried this with one or two rounds loaded. When you load the wildcat magazines with more than two rounds of super colibri, the point of the bullet appears to sit too low to feed in my TOZ-78.

I do still wonder: did they change the feed ramp on the Winny version to coincide with the altered mag?

Magazine Manufacturer

Have you disassembled the magazines and compared the factory markings?

Are the the Wildcat magazines of TOZ origin?
Or, do they appear to have been out-sourced.

I haven't disassembled any of them yet, but the only markings from the factory on either of the mags are the EP'ed serial numbers on the TOZ mags. I do not believe that TOZ would outsource the production, it appears the design and composition of the mags was just slightly altered for the Winchester contract.

Do your buddy's TOZ 78 magazines lock and function in your Wildcat?

I misread your question before. A friend and I both have TOZ-78s, I just acquired some wildcat mags for mine. I can't say for sure if the mags will interchange between rifles.

I've also edited my previous post about super colibris feeding from the wildcat mags.

I guess I misunderstood as well, I assumed you owned a Winchester Wildcat rifle.
Why else would you be buying Winchester Wildcat magazines.
Awwww, as I said, I %%%-u-me-d you owned a Wildcat rifle.

You were buying the Winchester Wildcat magazines for your TOZ 78-1 ... Right?
And, the Wildcat magazines functioned in your TOZ 78-1 ... Right?

But, not in you friends TOZ 78-? ... Right?

You don't own a Winchester Wildcat rifle ... Right?
And, your buddy doesn't own a Winchester Wildcat rifle either ... Right?

Well ... Okay, I think I get it - now.

Boy, do I need to to slow down ...

Thanks for the clarification ... I needed that.
And, I need some sleep. The over-time is killing me.
