Buck Mark Camper metal sight base + sights...

Log in to see fewer ads
I posted this in another forum.

If you have a camper and want to replace the plastic sight base you need to purchase the sight also. The current sight on the camper will not attach to the metal base. Here is what you need:

$08.00 B5152693 sgt mt base (92) bk mk
$01.00 B5152685 sight base pin bk mk (92)
$45.00 B5152754 sgt assy pro tgt std&pl

s/h $6.50 to NV
tot $60.50

I had a hell of a time trying to get the sight roll pin in and ended up taking it down the street to a gunsmith who made the hole a tad larger and then tapped it in (didn't charge me either).

changed to metal sight bases...

this info will be helpful for all those who want to make the switch.

i believe the new campers are being delivered with metal/alloy sight bases currently (just like the standard models) and has been confirmed by a couple "new" camper owners here @ rfc. sounds like browning might have started listening to al the complaints about the plastic sight bases cracking. if you ask me, should've been done a long time ago but i guess they needed to use enough of the plastic injected bases to offset the cost of the tooling (mold).

Yes, definitely should have been done long ago. For older campers the TacSol rail with integrated sight is available for about the same price as f.2 got for the Browning solution. I've used the TacSol integrated sight rail for about a year (mostly with an UltraDot 30 attached) and it has worked flawlessly.

You're talking about the TacSol integral rail with rear sight. The rail without the sight is $30.00. I've got one for sale in the swap meet for $25.00.

Just a note. I bought a Buckmark Camper in Februrary. It was supposed to be new production. It had the plastic parts.

BTW, this post has helped a lot. I have been trying to confirm that I have selected the right replacement parts for my Buckmark.

My Remaining quesiton. The Metal front sight says that it should be fitted by a gunsmith (On the Brownells site), anyone know what that is?

THanks

Charlie

Many places that sell gun parts have a disclaimer that anything they sell you needs to be fitted or installed by a qualified gunsmith. They look at it as a CYA thing.

Checking my (build date April 2009) Camper--it's hard to tell if the sight base is plastic or not. I does not pass the magnet test, but it could be aluminum. If it is plastic, it's some of the finest machined plastic I have ever seen.

IF it's plastic, it will be most likely be injection molded, not machined.

Same here... mine is a Feb '09 build date and I can't tell if it's plastic or not. Doesn't look like plastic but I don't know.

I'm not seeing any seams, or anything else that would indicate it's plastic. It's very smooth and all edges are sharp and clean. ??

I have a TacSol barrel and comp coming, when I remove the sight base I'll be able to tell for sure.

Hi - have you looked at the Browning site, vice an aftermarket provider, for your parts? I replaced some springs and entire firing pin assembly recently for next to nothing.
They have a parts list and you can get a live person to help you and then order over the phone. 3 days later, UPS truck pulled up. Springs were 1.25 each versus 3 + bucks elsewhere!

Click on the icon that looks like a catalog (upper left of the box that discusses faxing orders - again, you can order by phone).
