Where are these scopes made??

Does anyone know FOR SURE where the following scopes are manufactured? In particular, the Sightron series. I'm guessing that the vast majority of them are either made in Japan or China. I'm pretty sure Leupold, Nkon, Weaver are made in Japan, but what about the rest? I also am assuming that name brands such as Swift, Tasco, BSA, Mueller, etc. are probably made in China? "Higher end" scopes like Sworvski, Zeiss, Kahls, etc are made in Europe? Any info would be appreciated especially info on SIGHTRON since a buddy of mine want to buy one and we think they are made in China. Any help?? Thanks.

Eric

Well, Leupolds are made in the U.S.A. all the way from the raw materials to the finished scope. I should know, I work there! haha.

Oh good Lord, not this crap again.

Leupold's glass is made in Japan. They even say so.

Weaver, Bushnell Elite's, Sightron are made in Japan.

Nikon's are made in the Philippines and either Taiwan or Thailand, I can't remember which one. They used to be made in Japan, but no more.

Simmons, Tasco, BSA, Mueller, Center Point, Barska, Zos are made in China.

Chunkchuker is correct, the glass is imported. I would be too costly to manufacture here.

Japan, China, same thing. Thats what I meant anyway. I just wanted to hear it from the man that works there, and not what the book says.

Japan it is. I don't have a problem with it. I Just wished I worked there too. Do you get an employee discount? That would be awesome. I'd have a Leupold on every gun I own if it was me.

Yup, a very nice discount. And about once a year we have an "Employee only" sale where they sell off product from shows and what not. They treat their employees extremely well. I couldn't be happier working here.

I'd love to live out there anyway. Makes me really think hard about something like that. What a dream job that would be.

I don't think I would be very productive at that job. Probably be fired for fondling the products. Might make a good field tester though .

I work in the product service department, dealing with the warranty issues. I also help run our custom shop, everything from processing the orders to shipping them out and everything inbetween.

On a side note, Im super impressed with your bolt work Gizzy, top notch stuff.

Thanks a lot. I may have to think hard about moving out that way. That would be a really interesting job.
