The Lavender Lady

Yep, it's another Polar Bear knockoff. Great designs just never seem to go out of fashion. This is a Sawdust design and you can review his original thread here.

I built this stock for my wife and she has named it Lady Lavender. I'm not sure I get the connection, but she says she named it that because she's "going to show the boys how it's done". I updated her first stock (click to view) by adding finger grooves, a thumbrest, and a rollover comb. I borrowed the barreled action from her silver benchrest (she's named that one "ET") for these pictures. This is an 18" stainless .920" GM barrel, PC mount, Burris Signature Zee high rings, and a Mueller Eraticator scope.

I had sent a pattern of the aluminum trim pieces to ChargerTom. He very generously cut these pieces on the waterjet cnc machine at his work. That saved me a ton of work......thanks a million Tom, I owe you.

Hey Earth, after I sent the first Raptor stock to Dan (version 2), I had a little time to kill while you guys evaluated it. With a little "encouragement" from my wife, I jumped on the Lady Lavender project and got it built before I started on version 3 of the Raptor stock. I've just now gotten around to finishing the paint job.

All I can say is that you've done it again. I have an honest question and let me know if I'm out of line by asking but, are you retired? I ask that because you must put quite a bit of time into making the amazing stocks that you do. Being a woodworking fanatic in high school makes it hard to really get out and try to make a stock like that. It also looks like you live in an area with good weather year round. Here, its about 20 outside and the one thing we dont have yet is a heater for the garage. It makes me so jealous of you. Sorry for the rant. Great work again. Props to you.

Yep, I'm retired, living in central Florida. We haven't even had a frost this winter. The pictures were taken in my back yard about a week ago. I still have a few flowers blooming and I have to mow the grass every couple of weeks. It's a nice place to be in the winter, but I sure do get nervous during the hurricane season.

Your work always amazes me. Very classy BR design as the first one you did.

2006 was a great year as i found rimfirecentral.com and you turned out so many great stocks, giving me the courage to do 2 stocks myself.

Can't wait to see what 2007 will bring in the Hipshot line. Take some time and enjoy the stocks for awhile and be planning that 2007 line of Hipshot stocks.
