The standard small-bore rifle, model "SM-2", is one of the most popular sporting rifles.
The rifle comes in several versions: 5 kg in weight, 3.6 kg in weight (Kadet), with a safety, with a stock for left-handers and as a combination of these versions.
All the versions are made on a similar design concept and are intended for target shooting at a 50 m range in prone, standing and kneeling position. The rifle is used in women's and junior's shooting exercises.
The receiver features a special tray for easy loading of a cartridge to the chamber. The bolt is provided with an indicator of the firing pin cocked position.
The trigger mechanism allows it to adjust the trigger pull and travel without detaching the rifle from the stock.
Construction of the stock which features the longitudinally adjustable butt and vertically adjustable butt pad enables a shooter to choose a comfortable ready position.
5.6-mm (.22 LR) rim-fire cartridges are used for firing. The parameters of the barrel bore. chamber and bolt lock allow a reliable use of both the home-made and foreign cartridges.
The "SM-2" comes with sets of front sights, and dioptres, accessories for cleaning and lubrication, sling.

All the models are designed on a common base and differ in the stock dimensions and position of the trigger relative the pistol grip. Available are the versions for a left-hander and with a safety. The barrel bore locking system of a crank type with vertical axles of rotation allows to quickly reload the rifle without changing the ready position of a shooter. The position of the center of masses of the rifles is adjusted by the balancing weights.

Provision is made for a cover to protect the barrel bore, front sight and diopter sight from dirt. The trigger mechanism makes it possible to adjust the trigger pull, travel and trigger release character without stripping the rifle. The mechanism features an additional hammer interlocking device to perform dry training shooting.

The buttstock adjustable in length and a cheek adjustable in the vertical and horizontal planes allow to assume the most favourable and correct position for shooting. The buttstock is fitted with a holder to accept extra magazines. The quickly detachable sling comprises two parts - a loop and a sling. The shoulder strap is of peculiar design with elastic elements. The rifle comes complete with a 5-round magazine. The set includes magazines with a special cover holding three extra cartridges. The 5.6mm (. 22LR) rim-fire cartridges are used for firing. The maximum operating pressure of powder combustion gases should not exceed 180 MPa (1836 kgf/sq. cm). The parameters of the barrel bore and cartridge chamber, as well as those of the locking unit permit to use home-made and international cartridges.

The Biathlon-7-3 Cadet is intended to carry out trainings and competitions in biathlon sport with the sportsmen of younger age (till 15). The Biathlon-7-3 Cadet differs from the basic model in stock and trigger mechanism provided with a safety. The buttstock adjustable in length and a vertically and horizontally adjustable cheek, a holder for extra magazines.

high scope mounts

Is it possible to get a scop mounted high enough to be able to pull the bolt pin out and remove the bolt in order to clean a Ismash . Mudd Turtle.

Yes, they are available... but not that common. I know of two that were imported by Armrus.

Price was a little over $2000 CND with all the accessories.

left hand 7-4

Hi all you lefties out there,
I have a LH 7-4 biathlon rifle if you'd like to see/shoot it. I live in Vermont and if you want to try one before buying contact me.
I train at Ethan Allen BR and plan on attending the NorAm races in the northeast this winter season so the rifle will be there.

The action is really elegant and you get used to it really fast. This is especially true if your using club rifles that are RH.
It took me about 100 rounds to stop resetting the rifle to rebolt it. After about 5000 round the rifle still shoots very well.
