Tikka T1X .22LR issues?

Log in to see fewer ads
Hi guys Iím interested in a Tikka T1X, it would be my fist bolt action .22LR.
The problem is that I have been monitoring the forum snipershide.com (among other forums) where they have a 60+ page section with hundreds of threads dedicated to the T1X with dozens of shooters reporting numerous issues with stoppages specially FTF and FTE.
Some guys have anywhere from 5% to 10% failures almost every time they go out.
Many rifles have been sent back to Beretta with little o no improvement whatsoever.
The outrage starts Around page 25 in June-July of this year As people started to finally get their hands on their new rifles and thatís when the disappointment, and the outrage, begins.
Beretta at first thought it was the magazine but the shooters think otherwise.
Some owners report issues with 5 or 6 different mags.
Anybody here with any experiences, Good or bad?
I guess Iíll wait for the issues to be resolved. If they donít improve, I guess I will have to buy a CZ 457.

Ive had no problems with mine what so ever. I have heard of problems with magazines. I have 3 magazines and one will just hold 9 rounds instead of 10. Like I stated the rifle has given me no problems. No matter what, whenever a new rifle comes out from any company, even CZ, you are going to read of people having problems. They are mass produced.

I've read that thread and if I remember correctly the only recurring problem is ejection with the wire style ejector. Most owners were able to fix the problem by adjusting the wire. I plan on buying the Tikka so I have been following the comments and all I can say is that they have not dissuaded me. Accuracy is spectacular for a .22 rifle at that price point. As to magazines, every brand can have problems with magazines that can be resolved pretty easily.

I bought one in August and it's been great. It has never had a FTE an dif you use just a little force it feeds fine. It's a lot of rifle for the money, my buddy bought a new 457 American and so far it hasn't been able to out shoot my T1X.

I've had mine to the range five times since buying it in March and put almost 500 rounds through it without any problems whatsoever. It is accurate, smooth, and has a good trigger. The magazine loads easily and feeds reliably. The only mod I made was to swap in a T3 butt pad to lengthen the pull a little. This rifle has been great, and turns in 0.5" - 0.7" 5-shot groups with CCI SV, SK+, and Tac 22 at 50 yards, even with me shooting it using a 9 power scope.

In short, buy one, you'll like it.

I have a T1X in an Orxy chassis.
Shoots Eley Tenex and SK Biathlon Sport into 0.5" or less consistently at 50 yards.
Have had some ejection problems with some greasier match cases when operating the bolt handle rapidly, but not with Tenex or the SK Biathlon.
Have had some failure to feed, but seems magazine related. I am going to clean up the front wall edge of the problem magazines once identified certainly and see if that makes any difference.

Overall, I consider it a solid cost to performance value.

No problems what so ever. Chambers fine, no FTF, no FTE. Have purchased 5 additional mags through Beretta and all work flawlessly as does the one that came with the rifle. I shoot BR competition with mine and it holds its own with Kimbers, Winchester 52ís, Martiniís, CZís, RPRís and Anschutz. All magazines hold all 10 rounds with no problem or need to force 10th round in.

We have four at the club at the moment. One is a club gun and the others privately owned. No issues at all with any of them and one recently took out the club medal for KYL style shoot.
One club member has purchased several magazines and to date no problems. Those that have the T1x rate them very highly.

I got mine in March and quickly switched the barrel to a Volquartsen .17 HM2/Mach2 barrel. I have had absolutely no problems.

I would like to thank all of you for your replies. Iím encouraged by all the positive feedback and, after doing some more research, Iím planning to get a T1X in the spring.
Tikkas have a great reputation and Beretta ďusuallyĒ stands behind the products.

Yes I remember a couple of guys trying to show everybody else how to fix the issues, with pics and everything.
Iím not a gun smith but Iím pretty sure I could have a go at it.
Question: would that VOID a warranty?

Joemiami - Don't worry about something that hasn't happened. Wait until you get your new gun next spring, shoot it, and you may find it has zero problems.

I've had one FTF with mine, but it was a round that was damaged out of the box and probably should have just been pitched. To the rifles credit, it fed and fired several other rounds that were also not in the best condition.
Otherwise, accuracy has been stellar, even with ammo that doesn't have the best reputation.
