Talking CZ 457 update from CZ USA itself

Log in to see fewer ads
"Smaller, lighter and sleeker -- here's a first look at the new CZ 457 rimfire platform.

The biggest change is the switch to a push-to-fire safety system, which means the safety is no longer 'backwards' to many in the American market.

But that's not all -- other upgrades are as follows: The action has been shortened and slab-sided to reduce bulk and weight, reduced bolt rotation means increased clearance for large scopes, the trigger is adjustable for creep, poundage and overtravel, the bottom metal is now sculpted and sleek, metalwork is finished in nitride to give it the look of a quality blue with the corrosion resistance of stainless, and the interchangeable barrel system and smooth-running magazine system of the 455 is retained unchanged. Last but definitely not least, the firing pin weight has been significantly reduced, resulting in less disruption at the shot and enabling a tad more accuracy.

Shown here as the new 457 Varmint Precision Trainer, it wears a carbon fiber composite stock from the fine folks at @mannersstocks, a 24" heavy threaded barrel and the CZ Rimfire suppressor (sold separately, of course)."

Overall, it seems hard to complain (I hope I'm not proven wrong here) about the new bottom metal, the fully adjustable trigger, the increased clearance around the bolt handle, the same barrel system as the 455 (good for existing aftermarket options) and the new stock options that appear to be pillared from factory.

Liking the Royal ! But with at least a 20.5” barrel. A heavy tapered one would really be sweet ! kirby

The fine print for the MTR model says match grade barrel and a match style chamber.
I feel the "Itis" returning it has been in remission for some time now.

with the match grade barrel it looks like they claim (guarantee?) 15mm (0.59") groups at 50yds... noticeably better than the 2 MOA i've heard quoted before...

maybe they will offer this barrel as a standalone?

Hope they drill and tap for bases instead of just the dovetail design.

50 meters which is 0.54" at 50 yards.

I also note that it has a cocking indicator pin which is a nice touch.

It's about time CZ has an MOA guarantee. Keystone Arms has had an MOA guarantee with their 722 rifle, which sells in the $350 range.

Jmrybak sir THANK YOU so much...great pictures of the stocks and the catalog I can finally read what it says. Looks like I will be getting either two 457 Premium or Lux rifles one in 17hmr and 22mag both look fantastic.

So how many of you have changed your minds on getting one. ??

Great tip!

Look at this folks! Top, side, and bottom of 455 (top) versus 457 (bottom)...

I personally like the slab side a lot, and between that and the shorter rear I bet the weight savings are significant!

Anyone have any idea what the detents on the top are the receiver are for? They don't appear to be tapped...

Jmrybak...sir any pictures of the 457 Lux stock....any spec page you could post for us.

your making me drool and I will be taking extra batteries for my camera with me to the Shot Show. I normally buy a rifle right after the Shot Show but this time I may have to buy two.
