That suggests one needs to be a member of some organization, but it doesn't ask for that info on the order form.

Ok, then......I'll send them a form and some money.

Single pump
My advice is get the Monte Carlo stock for the pistol grip angle.

https://thecmp.org/clubs/cmp-affiliate-rifle-purchase/

Fill out the form and send it. Don't expect any response. The rifle ships to you.
I was not asked for any membership info, Buy 2 while you are at it!! I left 1 with irons and one scoped.

And that I did, Crank! Envelope went out in last Tuesday's mail for two of the Monte Carlo stocked 853's. Now it's a waiting game.
BTW......anybody remember what their turn-around time was?

Thanks.....Roger

As I remember, it was 2-3 weeks.

I bought one for a trial. It turned out so well I got another one

If I had room in the safe I would get another...

That will give you a little bit of time to figure out what pellet might work out. Pyramid Air has a buy 3 get 4 deal or at least did at the time, which is why I bought from them.

Szumi on here gave me a good suggestion:

http://www.pyramydair.com/s/p/RWS_Di...tter_500ct/234
RWS Diabolo Basic .177 Cal, 7.0 Grains, Wadcutter,

Here is what I posted on another forum in 2015:

Here are the ones I have:

Trivia - Diabolo refers to the shape named after a toy looking like butterfly a yo yo. I got curious after I noticed it was not 'Diablo'

5mm Sheridan
The original Sheridan pellets were good. I read the reason they made 5mm was to control ammo quality. Not sure but it makes a nice story.

http://www.pyramydair.com/s/p/Benjam...nted_500ct/161
Benjamin Cylindrical .20 Cal, 14.3 Grains, Pointed,
These were available at Academy so it was convenient. Not a bad pellet. I went through 6,000 in a 6 month period and kind of reached a limit on what I could achieve with the combo.

http://www.pyramydair.com/s/p/JSB_Di...omed_500ct/477
JSB Diabolo Exact .20 Cal, 13.73 Grains, Domed,
OK, This may be a better pellet for target shooting. Less money and better reviews than above made me choose it.

.177 Pellets in the refurbished M853

http://www.pyramydair.com/s/p/Daisy_..._Cal_300ct/782
Daisy Dial-A-Pellet .177 Cal, 3 styles
I picked them up to have something to shoot. They did not shoot well enough to make practice worthwhile. I would have returned them to Wal-Mart but thought maybe the returns lady was member here and would ridicule me in Off Topic. It could happen.

http://www.pyramydair.com/s/p/Crosma...oint_500ct/318
Crosman Premier .177 Cal, 7.9 Grains, Hollowpoint
Not a bad pellet, worth using and available @ Academy and Wal-Mart

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are ranked relative to each other
3rd
http://www.pyramydair.com/s/p/H_N_Ex...ter_500ct/1059
H&N Excite Econ Pellets, .177 Cal, 7.48 Grains, Wadcutter,
Probably on par with the one above. I do get some flyers which I don't think are me.

2nd
http://www.pyramydair.com/s/p/RWS_Di...tter_500ct/234
RWS Diabolo Basic .177 Cal, 7.0 Grains, Wadcutter,
Good Pellet, pretty uniform but not perfect, some slight defects if you look close enough. They shoot well enough that you may be the limit not the pellet. Good Value. Was recommended be a guy on another site.

1st
http://www.pyramydair.com/s/p/Beeman...ated_500ct/626
Beeman .177 Cal, 7.7 Grains, Wadcutter, Coated,
So far this on seems to be the best of the bunch.

The CMP also sell Vogel - Merlin Match. I didn't want to buy 5000 without trying them first.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
General info re: Daisy M853
Sorry this is just anecdotal and I don't have hard numbers, groups sizes or chrony data. I only have my observations from a couple hundred rounds in seated position. Plus some was low light shooting. That is not enough to really be dialed in as a shooter on this air rifle. This rifle can put consecutive shots into the same hole, scoped, @ 10m from seated.
Though none of these pellet gave a choice for head size, you can feel the difference when loading rounds.

Essentially you could buy an 853 refurb and shoot over 20,000 rounds in year for a about $1 a day. That might also include targets and pellet trap, if not you would be close to 25,000 round a year.

This is not a rifle for pest control. It is only 510 fps of light grain .177 cal.

Another member's response:
The Vogel Merlin match the CMP sells shoot very well in those guns.

For target shooting...ad me to the 853 list. Bought mine 10 years ago...it's the one pellet rifle I'll never get rid of .

Shooting consistency tip.
Keep the felt air cylinder wiper oiled. When I got mine it was bone dry. Std velocity deviation dropped dramatically after several oilings.

Hmmmm. Wasn't quite expecting this so soon. Received both my packages from CMP this morning. That makes it right at 15 days, and I had mailed my payment to them. That makes it roughly one week from receipt of order to my receiving the guns.
Darn good, IMO.

Probably the best buget air rifle out there is the XS25. Mike at Flying Dragon wont send you a bad one. Factory boxes or one with his tunes. All are tested before he ships. Great guy great prices.

Don't know if it has been mentioned but Numrich has the Diana 34 with the T06 trigger for $199 in the basket. Mine came to $235 delivered. Love mine, seems svelte compared to my other springers. Shoots 8.1 Vogel wadcutters at 930-915ish FPS
Liked it so much I overpaid for .22 version.

I just bought one thanks. I've wanted one for years.

$217 delivered for a 34 with wooden stock; you'll never do better than that.

Thanks again.

Just to follow up, I received the Diana 34 from Numrich. Double boxed sent FEDEX I ended up just picking it up at the office as my location is a little off the beaten path. Kind of a PIA, but FEDEX has been going downhill ever since Tom Hanks left.

I feel like I've never spent a better $217. The bluing reminds me of what was coming out of Connecticut years ago.

I have a cheap Umarex 4X on there now, shooting crosman premiers..

These are a steal, TNX again for the link
