Yeah Al's about as special as it gets....

And that is after the admins delete all Al's political, offensive, want to buy and sell, and insulting posts. They would have added another million at least!

Maybe a slingshot ...

I have a few slingshots. Maybe I will get a truck load of pea stone delivered as my slingshot ammo supply ... How about that Al ?

Very glad to hear that there was no injury. This type of thing is easier to miss with rimfire ammo.

Regarding the rest of the ammo, I was thinking, "You did what?"

BTW, you should be able to easily determine if the rifle barrel bulged with a tight cleaning patch.

Regardless, it appears to be shooting just fine.

I am glad that you came out well. I had a just gotten a used gun and surprisingly had it checked out by a gunsmith--something I never do. After passing the vetting, the gun came apart after 3 shots--barrel splitting, magazine components trashed bolt frozen, stock cracked and a gorgeous prewar Mauser was a total loss. I just had a few splinters in my hand and some marks on my face outside of the coverage of my glasses. It was a 9.3x64 that had originally been a 9.3x62.

A good gun that suffered a bad hand load?

We used to use iron ore pellets that dribbled out of the RR cars on their way to the L Superior dock where they got transferred to boats to make US steel, with our wrist rocket slingshots to hunt chippies and grey squirrels in Jr high and high school in the late 50s and early 60s in town. Everything fun is illegal in town now.

Apologies... back to blowing up guns.

It was originally a 9.3x62 and some previous owner converted it to a 9.3x64 and apparently did a poor job, when a different gunsmith looked it over after it blew up. I was using factory rounds.

I feel your pain. I did this a little while ago. It's the cylinder from my S&W 929. Best we can figure out is that it was a double charge.

I sent it back to S&W to see if they could fix it knowing it was beyond repair and they offered me a new gun at a very good price ( dealer's cost ) so I ended up buying a new one.

Hope you get yours straightened out. When you find a gun that fits you you want to keep shooting it.

Good Luck and Good Shooting.
