455 17hmr to 22lr to 17hmr

Purchased a CZ 455 17hmr varmint heavy barrel rifle in 2012, great shooter out of the box. I put a Hawke 6-24x44mm Sidefocus scope on her. Shot the rifle with that set up for awhile and then got the itch to change things. In 2015, bought a 455 22lr varmint heavy barrel set, now I can swap barrels and I did. Shot the new 22lr set up for a couple years and with the 22lr barrel the rifle shot some very good groups. Now I have swapped the barrels and have returned the 455 to it's original 17hmr set up. Took it to the range today and after about 4 or 5 shots on the 50 yard range, got her sighted back in and I will probably leave this rifle setup as the 17hmr. This is the fifth CZ rifle that I have in my safe and I think it is great to have the ability to swap barrels; but you it is equally fun to be able to shoot a 453 American 22lr or a 452 17hmr Trainer or any of the other rifles in my safe. Had some fun today. Just wanted to share the experience. Thanks for viewing this post.

A couple of years ago a guy would come to the range and shoot 22lr for awhile then he would change barrels and shoot 17HMR. Took him about 5 minutes to make the swap and be driving tacks again.

I've been wondering why there is not a 4 barrel set so you could go from 17M2 to 22lr to 22WMR and finally 17HMR. Maybe there is but I have not heard of it.

CZ hasn't made a .17m2 455 barrel unfortunately, wouldn't be much to it as they already do the .17hmr, guess they feel there's not enough market to make it worthwhile. I had 5 Quads at one time and 8 or 9 barrels, after a short while just set up a rifle in each caliber and left them alone.

Is the twist the same as q 17hmr? Seems like you could convert the 17hmr barrel either by machining it or does someone make a chamber adapter?

Twist is the same, that would be one tiny chamber adapter.

Thanks for the replies. When I swapped the 22lr barrel to reinstall the 17hmr, I was a little scared as to how the original setup would shoot, especially about the headspace, but I did not need to worry. The bullets fed without problem, the bolt closed easily and the spent round ejected without problem. All in all, love shooting this rifle as well as the other CZ rifles in my safe.

Again thanks for the replies
