The initial crack (on the right side looked like a scratch at first. It was only when I noticed it was cracked through that I realized I had something seriously wrong going on here.

I'd would have said something wasn't right when you had to put the clamp on the receiver. But then that's me.

The range/dealer is taking care of it for me. It should be in Ruger's hands hands by now.

Replaced by manufacturer

Just so you know, Ruger replaced my 10/22 takedown rifle in its entirety. This was a complete replacement; box and all. It included a new bag, magazine, lock, and of course the rifle; everything that comes with a newly purchased firearm.

I immediately put 500 rounds through it. The rifle did not fail to fire or mis-feed ammunition. I'll keep you posted as I run more ammo through it.

C ya,

Question

Thanks for the update,,, question, did you use some kind of bolt buffer? I can see it was not cracked there where it would be installed .

No. I haven't done anything to the rifle.

I think I have at least 2500 rounds through it now. I am keeping the receiver and barrel nice and clean and well lubricated. Other than that, no modifications.

I might get one of those synthetic pins for the back bolt-stop. I've had those break on me and the synthetic ones probably absorb some of the shock that could have caused the first one to fracture.

But so far, so good! This replacement hasn't skipped a beat.

Awesome. I really thought that Ruger would have looked at your receiver and screamed abuse. It's good to see that they replaced it.
