50 cal inline with gorgeous tiger striped walnut fore and aft with deep blued barrel. It looked like walnut to me although all I read is maple. Used $650 95%+. Its the first one I've seen. None like this on GB, what do y'all think? If we had more deer I'd be showing off a pic of my new A&H.

.

I had two different A&H flintlock Mountain Rifles ( one 1:28 twist, the other 1:60 twist), and AFAIK A&H used only Maple (in different grades) for stocks in all their production rifles.

The barrels were sourced from Spain (and so marked), but my rifles were very accurate.

I can't get the wood out of my head plus the shop owner said it comes with the box. I've taken quite a few deer with an accurate side hammer repro and a very accurate Knight 93 and I miss the belch of smoke.

About 20 years ago I bought a stainless version with both the black synthetic and the curly maple stock. It is the bolt action style, very accurate. I shoot the the 209 primer, 95 grains of American FFG powder, Knight sabot with 45cal. Sierra 240 grain pistol bullets. Very accurate and fun gun to shoot. My only complaint would be that it is a little muzzle heavy with the long barrel.

Not known in our area so Gander Mountain cleared them out and I think I gave $180 at the time which was maybe 25% of what they were originally. Wish I had bought a couple of them. I don't think you will be disappointed if you buy it.

Thanks for your replies. The desire isn't quite so strong today and I think I can beat it.

The arms peddler still has min, err, it, and might work a deal for my Rem 700 25-06. I'm weakening again.

AL, did you ask to check the box and see if it also has a synthetic stock as well? A lot of them came that way.

If I had a complaint Al it would be that the finish has darkened over the years. The striping on mine was much more apparent when purchased about 15 years ago. Still considered one of the finest rifles of this style made and mine is accurate.

Has it seen much sun or has it 'matured' in the confines of a safe.

Most of the time in the safe. The finish is very red and showed well the golden striping when new. Now it has darkened. May do something for it someday may not. I think production stopped in 2006.

Thanks for that and the pic. Red is good. humb: I think the one I'm interested in will, err, would outlast me.
