M 22 recall

Does anyone know how Winchester plans on reimbursing people for this possible bad ammo? I have a 1000 round box I recently bought and hate to get stuck with it. Of course I do not have a receipt as I bought it at a gun show.

If you have the listed lot numbers and contact Winchester I would think they would make it right somehow..

M 22

I would hope that they would replace it with "good" ammo - I would not really expect any cash back - Hoping for the best. With 22 ammo so hard to find I thought I hit the jackpot when I got a box of 1000

If I had to take a shot in the dark, replacing the bad ammo with some good stuff would make their customers happy..Like you said 22lr ammo isn't easy to come by these days.

Manhattan, thanks for the valuable information I think my 1000 round box is OK, but I will double check with Winchester. I didn't think you could double charge a .22 cartridge, live and learn!

glad i dont shoot this stuff!!

double powder charge, wow, i bet it isnt fun when you pull the trigger on one of them! i can see some gun damage possibly, and people close by injury. i sure would hope they will replace it with safe ammo and be happy to come and pick up your bad stuff.

For those in question: If you are like me and no longer have your original box it may help to know the affected ammunition was made in April 2013. I called Winchester this morning at the given phone number and was advised accordingly by a customer service representative. If you purchased prior to then you should not have any issue.

The lot number is on the flap of each 500 round box.

I tried calling but the phone is busy. I opened the 1000 round box and it holds 2 500 round bricks. On the 500 round bricks you can find the lot numbers on the top cover of the box as shown on the Winchester website. I bought mine from Cabela's in Dec. 2013. Mine are OK. Lot No. GN20L. Make sure to check yours before you go firing any rounds...be safe!
