Nice , that's how mine runs too, like a sewing machine. Is yours a 1 of 1,482 1939 M51 also? Does it have a stock medallion on the bottom of the pistol grip or holes from the mounting screws? Mine has neither.

Well I finially picked up a M51 thanks to MossyAddict. Hopefully soon I will get a chance to run a few through it to see what she can do.

Here are a couple of my 46M with the loading port cut out. I picked this one up last year and of course I haven't shot this one either. Still need to pick up a butt plate for it.

I have posted pictures of this one before in another thread. However, since it is a "Spiegal Mossberg" I'll post it here in the appropriate thread. There were 675 made by Mossberg for Spiegal in 1938.

Thanks, no medallion, and I'm not sure about the production number. I know I saw a chart somewhere but can't remember where.

That too is a sweet gun James but I couldn't read the roll stamp on the bottom picture, not sure with the #3 peep sight on it

Thanks! I know, it is a light roll mark. I took another picture of it in better light.

51M finially arrived. This was a last minute deal over the phone. Glad I took a chance, the condition was better than what I expected. It does have a few battle wounds that will stay like they are. No need to do anything to this one other than shoot it.

These are old pictures, I should dig it out and take new ones.

Unfortunately, the medallion is long gone...holes are there though

Making a Spiegel Stock from a Non-Spiegel Stock

Had a regular Mossy stock and wanted to see if I could create the cheekpiece like the Speigel stocks have....Shown is a "stock" stock and a Speigel in comparison and the work involved in the transformation.....
I think it came out AOK!!

The stock blank before...

The Spiegel stock as pattern...

Starting to take shape....

Sanded and touch up.....

And with a Laquer finish......
