Nice shooting, having a coach that can look at your position is a big help. Your scores are jumping in leaps and bounds. Keep it up.

Talking A coach - so jealous!

Randy - Your scores are really taking off! Thanks for sharing that tip about the shooting order. I'll give it a try.

Thanks to both of you for the kind words! It's really great to have a place here on RFC to share scores and tips. I'm also really lucky to have a rifle club so close that has such great resources. I should mention that Wheaton Rifle has had in it's membership 2 Olympic champions and the winner of this year's President's Cup at Camp Perry. While I have no expectations for those kind of results, I've got even reason to believe I can make substantial improvements there.

Here's a prone entry.....

Here are two prone entrys for this month using my scoped 40-X. This is only the second time in 3 or so months I've been able to get my rifle in hand.

Got to get more range time......

A-23-5-50 yards (bulls 1 & 2)

99-7X - cowboy4

325-4X (85-0X, 74-1X, 96-3X, 70-0X) Jeff(SilentPea), Santa Barbara, CA
NRA Light Rifle, T-class, Sharpshooter (229-0x in prone, standing, kneeling)
Savage MkII BRJ, Fed AutoMatch, centerpoint 4-16x40 (set to 4x)
A-31 (with X) target at 50 yards, ~65F and calm

Center left Sitting target is a triple, I guessed and called it 2 Xs and one 10.

I'm having a beastly time staying consistent, and it is starting to look like I might preferentially shoot from a seated position instead of prone...

Hope everyone has a nice Christmas/Ski season!

Glad to have your guys back!

I'm updating the spreadsheet, but not able to get Zamzar.com to convert it for me recently. No joy on Friday and again failed today. I'll get the rattleboard updated as soon as I can.

Hi Guys!

I've recently begun shooting 4P in my club's smallbore league and I thought I'd start posting my scores here. We don't get to keep the targets that we shoot during our league matches so I can only post the scores that I shoot. I do keep my practice targets so if I shoot a decent score in practice I'll be glad to post pics of the targets along with the score. I also don't think they score X's unless there's a tie that's critical to determine which team won the match. So the x count won't be included with my scores unless I post a score that I shot during practice.

349 (97 prone, 91 sitting, 83 kneeling, 78 standing) PWNolan
Smallbore T-Class, Kimber 82G, Tasco 6-24X, CCI SV
50ft indoor

Take care!

Welcome to the fun corner of RFC, always happy to have new shooters. Do you think you could snag a picture of your target before handing it over at the league matches? Just a thought... the pics are more for bragging rights -- not like there are prizes associated with out scores.

As for Xs, no worries -- some of the targets that I shoot don't even have an x-ring on them!

Cheers!

Welcome!

Pat,
Thanks for posting your scores. The fact that you can't post the targets is no big deal. We'll use your scores in the postings.

Not being able to calculate or measure X's is going to marginally hold you back in the position rankings. You can see that the X count is the only thing that separates our leaders this month.

Even if your targets do not have an "X" ring we are counting X's based on the NRA Smallbore Rules. Basically an X is counted for any center shot that does not break the outside of the 9 ring.

Take a look at some of our previous disucssions on this here:

Ah -- I'm referring to the A-31 target though. The official NRA targets (like below) do not have an X ring. Not a big issue for me, as I also have a bunch of the RFC-modified ones with the appropriate markings... (also I don't shoot nearly enough Xs for it to be a big difference)

In that case, there hasn't been an established rule (that I remember) in this forum.

NRA A-31 target
I'm pretty sure the A-31 is scored the same as the A-32. See below:
14.3 How to Score - A shot hole, the leaded edge of which comes in contact with the outside of the bullseye
or scoring rings of a target, is given the higher value. If a competitor fails to hit any target (shot/s outside the
scoring ring) that shot will be scored as a miss (zero). A scoring gauge will be used to determine the value of
close shots. Scorers must indicate on the target which shots were plugged.

(5) Light Rifle (A-32 target) - Any shot hole within the ten ring which, with the aid of a .22 caliber plugtype
scoring gauge or overlay, the flange or outer ring of which does not touch the outside edge of
the ten ring.

That's the paragraph from the rule book that discusses it, I just included the part for Light Rifle since that was the target in question. Hope this helps.

Ah okay -- I originally misread the bolded portion as the 9 ring. I stand corrected.

Several practice cards from my last trip to the range. It felt like I was fighting the positions this time out as I had some sore muscles the next day which usually means I was doing something wrong. The kneeling was a mediocre effort which I partly blame on some mushy shoes. I also did a few 5 shot groups which were mostly smaller than the 9 ring at 50 ft so I don't think I can blame the ammo or rifle for any flyers.
