Fiocchi 22 Mag Ammo - 40gr JSP

Just picked up 5 boxes of the 40 gr JSP stuff. This looks exactly like CCI ammo. Does CCI make this for Fiocchi. The spec.'s look to be the same as CCI too.

Yep...the plastic box and tray along with the manufacture date code tell you who made it...CCI.
Fiocchi, Hornady, Federal, Remington 22wmr are all produced by CCI, then labeled to fit the brand.

Edit...correction...Browning rimfire is produced by Winchester.

We don't have to make it ourselves, just stick our name on it and reap the profits.

The CCI/Speer date code is a letter, a number, a letter and an id

Example: M21R06

First letter is the Month,
Number following is the day
Next letter is the year
followed by the lot id

Months

A - January
B - February
C - March
D - April
E - May
F - June
G - July
H - August
J - September
K - October
L - November
M - December

Years

A - 1995
B - 1996
C - 1997
D - 1998
E - 1999
F - 2000
G - 2001
H - 2002
J - 2003
K - 2004
L - 2005
M - 2006
N - 2007
P - 2008
Q - 2009
R - 2010
S - 2011
T - 2012
U - 2013
V - 2014
W - 2015
X - 2016
Y - 2017
Z - 2018

Letters I and O are not used as they can be confused for numbers.

Regardless of who actually manufactures the 40 gr JSP, my .22WMR Ruger American Rimfire loves it.

jala - thanks for the lot code breakdown. I noticed you included Browning in the CCI mix . . . I thought Browning was made by Winchester or does CCI also make all the Winchester rimfire ammo as well?

One round that performed very well in my CZ 22 WMR rimfires was the Aguila Silver Eagle. That is not under the CCI mfg process is it?

I have some old Winchester Super X (probably 15-20 years old) that shoots well in my CZ rifles along with the CCI A22. (40 grain / 1800 fps)

Thanks

Winchester has different box, different manufacture code.
Edit...Correction...Browning has the CCI box and but not the date code. Winchester product.
Armscor and Aguila are made outside the USA.
I've been testing a variety of rimfire at 200 yards to eliminate a bunch of leftovers.
50 rounds across a chronograph at 200 yards at a single aimpoint.
You can see for yourself which does what.

In 2003 I was on a western motorcycle trip and stopped to see an old friend, Allan Jones, who at the time was the editor of the the Speer Reloading Manual.

He gave me a tour of the plant and said that .22 Magnum was a real pain to make because of the length of the case. Speer had been contracted at that point to make all the .22 Magnum by various companies except for Winchester who had been making it since the 1950s.

That is why for decades there were only two kinds of .22 Magnum ammo made...Winchester and CCI...and really there still is...

Could it have something to do with the fact that the companies in brown are subsidiaries of Vista Outdoors? Vista Outdoors Brands - Welcome To Corporate America

Though not listed specifically, if you do your homework you'll find that S&W and Remington are also owned by Vista.

According to the info I found, Fiocchi is made in Italy, Hornady is owned by Steve Hornady and Browning ammo is made by Winchester.. Who manufactures Browning ammunition?

Not sure where you got your info, but there appears to be several inaccuracies.

Tee hee....by purchasing the ammunition
and reading the manufacturers date code.
Every box has a label that states the country of manufacture.
The manufacturers date code is brand specific.
You may have to hunt a bit to find the code, but it's there.
Take a close look at the Fiocchi labels. Read for y'erself.

Some are made in Italy, some are made here in the USA.

for example...

https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forum...5&postcount=74

https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forum...1&postcount=78

...and a closeup of a box from my stash...
22wmr, Fiocchi label, made by CCI

and the CCI manufacture code on the side

I know, I'm an annoying old coot....just part of my charm...

Okay, did some more digging in the stash, found 1 box of Browning 22wmr.
CCI type box and tray holding the cartridges, but date code is hidden.
Maybe under a label, let me do some peeling.

Nope, not under the label....wonder where it is?
CCI usually stamps on the outside of the plastic box.
Not visible...on the original cardboard brick, maybe?

More digging...old news blurb....

You are correct MannlicherFan, Browning contracts with Winchester for their rimfire products.
I went back and edited my original post with your information. May be the same type of CCI box
but without a visible date code which all CCI products have, you have to be right on that one.
Thanks for the heads up.

Found the date code on the Browning 22WMR plastic box.
Not visible in direct light, but at a flat angle reflecting off the side
against a dark background, very faint iridescent numbers/letters: 2MH42

Now I have to see how that translates and if it's one of Winchester's date codes.

Winchester Date Codes:

First number is the machine number

First letter is the year of manufacture

B 1928 1948 1968 1988 2008
C 1929 1949 1969 1989 2009
D 1930 1950 1970 1990 2010
E 1931 1951 1971 1991 2011
F 1932 1952 1972 1992 2012
G 1933 1953 1973 1993 2013
H 1934 1954 1974 1994 2014
K 1935 1955 1975 1995 2015
L 1936 1956 1976 1996 2016
M 1937 1957 1977 1997 2017
N 1938 1958 1978 1998 2018
P 1939 1959 1979 1999 2019
R 1940 1960 1980 2000 2020
S 1941 1961 1981 2001 2021
T 1942 1962 1982 2002 2022
U 1943 1963 1983 2003 2023
V 1944 1964 1984 2004 2024
W 1945 1965 1985 2005 2025
X 1946 1966 1986 2006 2025
Y 1947 1967 1987 2007 2027

Letter repeats on a 20 year cycle

Second letter is the month of manufacture

A - January
B - February
C - March
D - April
E - May
F - June
G - July
H - August
K - September
L - October
M - November
N - December

Last 2 numbers are day of manufacture reversed

So my Browning 22wmr (made by Winchester) stamped 2MH42

was made on machine #2, year 2017, August 24th

I know, I'm an annoying old coot....just part of my charm...

Welll looks like we have something in common

Regarding WMR ammo.. mostly have Armscor USA - could the USA part mean it's made in the same factory as CCI et. al?? I'll have to check my stash & find out.

Also have.. CCI, Federal, Hornady & Winchester. Need to check the Hornady stuff to see if the date code's match your info.

The Winchester Dynapoint 45gr. loads have soft point bullets like 22LR - have a couple boxes. According to they're website all remaining WMR loads are jacketed.. Winchester WMR Ammo Info

What scare's me about one corp (Vista) owning so many companies that supply guns, ammo[EIGHT] & other shooter's needs is that it would be easy for the lefties to bully them (lawsuits & so on) and the resulting trickle down effect it would have. Remember what happened to rimfire ammo supplies during the Obozo years??

The 2nd gives us the right to own guns (which the supreme court has upheld), neither says/has said a darn thing about ammo

If we can't get your guns, we'll take the ammo. Kinda like a car without tires, not going to get very far. Tariffs would take care of the imported stuff. Just as they have put a major dent in the importation of military style rifle clones, AK copies & so on.

Regards,

Smith & Wesson's parent company is American Outdoors and Remington's parent company is Remington Outdoor Company. Neither is owned by Vista.
