for a working 552, how is the overall condition? "local HOCK SHOP", I haven't heard that in years, that was what my mother used to call pawn shops too!! what part of the country are you from, she was born and raised in KANSAS.

Smile

I grew up in Georgia, spent a lot of years between the Rio Grande and Canada.
lived in Kansas (Dodge City and Jetmore) for several years. Been here in Florida since 1990. That rifle is the only one I ever bought with a roach inside it. Looked like it had been in an attic for years.

Thumbs up Well, I've been jacking my jaws for a long time saying I was going to get a 552...

...my dang credit card says 'YOU'RE GOING TO GET A REMINGTON 552 SPEEDMASTER!'

$594.98 delivered.
A bit less than I was quoted 'far away' a year ago, so I probably did OK.

Regardless, it's a done deal.
I'm getting this firearm.

Now, on to learning about the proper scope and mounts to keep it sleek.

552

I have a quick question, anyone have a 552 threaded for suppressor? I have taken one of my 552's to a gunsmith and he was not sure if the bbl was staked or pressed on and not removable for threading. I am not sure if I correctly stated what the gunsmith was telling me. Anybody have a threaded 552? Mine have the long bbl' and have no serial numbers. Thanks

Cool

I was 'googling' images of the 552 and found a pic of one that looked NIB with flash suppressor installed and what looked like a 'can' sitting off to the side...!!!

Found it here:

Thumbs up

Went to one of the LGS this morning and found some CCI .22 LONG. ( bought 3 )
Came back home and found 2 boxes of CCI .22 SHORT.
Also found 1 box of CCI .22 LONG RIFLE.
"I gotta go get some more of this stuff to test out that 552 when it gets here", I says to myself, I says!

Then found my 2 boxes of FEDERAL AUTO-MATCH .22LR and an AMERICAN EAGLE box of 500 and some random boxes of Federal .22 and then some other boxes and opened up my little cabinet and found a bunch of .22 LR...Aguila hi-speed; Russian lubed steel case; Remington Race Car tin; etc.

BUT, WAIT...THERE'S MORE! ( I just gotta FIND IT! )

I'M REALLY LIKING THIS...!!!

Yeah, the Russian stuff IS junk, and I've only put it through a revolver.
It was ultra cheap when I bought it, though. Like 20+ years ago!

552 Club

BusMaster007, thanks for the reply. It looks like someone has threaded the bbl of a 552.With the reliability of the Speedmaster, it will be the perfect host for a can. Just imagine the lack of sound with shorts! Please include me in the 552 Club.

Hey All,

I just picked up a used 552. Its appears to be in pretty good condition. The bluing is good, however the stock has a crack in it.

I'll attach some pictures. Maybe you experts can tell me more about what I have here. And maybe the age?

Also what are my options for repairing the stock?

Lets try the images again
