Recoil pad as stock extension

My oldest son is 6'3" and has a huge wingspan. I'm thinking a recoil pad on his Marlin 70 will help with the length of pull for him. Midway has the Marlin ones for 336/1894 etc, and all require heavy grinding and trimming to fit.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I use a Limbsaver slip on pad for heavy recoil rifles and shotguns, but it also works well as a LOP extender. Recently bought a Remington 597 HB and the stock felt too short. When I slipped on the Limbsaver it worked perfectly. If he needs more than 1 inch extension, then you'll have to have one ground down to fit. Any gunsmith should be able to do it for little money.

Look up Decelerator prefit gun pads and see if they have one for your gun. Made by Pachmayr they are a direct bolt on.

With the slip-on recoil pads, you can put inside it quite a few butt plate-shaped shims cut out of wood or whatever until you get the LOP the way you want it.
